Genuinely welled up reading both the club announcement and Harrison’s letter.
We will almost certainly never see his like again. The word legend is so overused it almost feels inappropriate.

So, is he leaving of his own accord, or has he been released ?

Thank you Harrison …you genuinely epitomise everything that is good about Cambridge United. A great player and a terrific person.
And what a great tribute from Paul Barry: that letter shows love, care and class. I feel really proud today that Cambridge United is my club.

Wow, we knew it was coming but still feeling choked. Thank Harrison for everything you have brought to the club, you epitomise everything that is good in our club and you have lead through example to all those on the pitch and around the club. Hope you enjoy great success with whatever you choose to do next and know you will be remembered by all who support the club for a long, long time.

So, is he leaving of his own accord, or has he been released ? Doesn't say but I expect the club have taken the difficult decision to not offer him a new deal. His age, injury record and the realistic fact that despite his legend status, he wasn't a first-choice starter even when he got injured, probably sealed that fate. I imagine he'll get offers - he's only 33 after all - to play at League 2 or NL level again. Maybe a return to Bromley. Or he might decide to retire. PB's statement sort of alluded to the fact that he might look to a future outside the game and I think everyone knows he's been studying for that. It probably depends what offers he gets.

He's South London-based so if he fancies playing still could see him pitching up for another season or two somewhere like Bromley, Sutton, Aldershot...

Very little I can add to what has already been said but that open letter was a wonderful way to say goodbye along with his appearance on the pitch tomorrow at HT. A real shame it couldn't have been made on the pitch as an active player but nothing in life is perfect.
A wonderful, wonderful servant to our club who will rightly be honoured in the Hall of Fame.
Thank you for sharing some great memories with us Harrison and all the very best for the future.

Perhaps naively I didn’t expect this. I’d hoped Harrison was just about fit again and would get a one-year extension. Because he’s Harrison Dunk. He’s actually one of the few players I wanted to keep this summer. Absolutely gutted.

Sounds like it was Harrison's decision according to Radio Cambs tonight. Brief interview with Monk which I am guessing will be on line at some point. Not made the decision as to whether to continue yet.

Remarkably short Wikipedia page for such a cast-iron fugging legend.
Who's our longest-serving player now? Must be Digby.
