What an absolute legend. Since the Queen's passing, Dunk playing for the U's remains one of the few constants in our ever changing world. Give him a new contract straight away - 2 years please.
A few highlights for me - albeit a bit heavily weighted to last season!
1) Sept 2013: His goal in our 3-0 win against Nuneaton. Played a blinder on the left wing that night too. Played a big part in our promotion season, rapid on the wing, put a good cross in, good playmaker.
2) Jan 2022: his role in our 1-0 win against Newcastle. Specifically getting smashed in the face by the ball from a cross. Looked knocked out or concussed. On the ground for a few seconds. Got up, shook it off and carried on as if nothing happened.
3) Jan 2022: scoring in our 3-1 win against Doncaster. Couldn't be happier for him to score in the third tier of the football league, having started his career with lowly Bromley. Especially given that most people wrote him off when we got to the football league "won't be good enough", and when we got to league one "won't be good enough". You could see how happy he was too with that goal.
Can't see why he can't become our longest serving player of all time. Not long to go.

I really hope he makes it there. My all-time favourite player. The fact that we still sing "Dunk will tear you apart" and he still wears 11 despite not having really played on the wing for 3 years just makes it all the better.
You'd think, barring injury, he'll likely be involved in all the remaining games of this season. He'll get a new deal for sure (and he's always said when one goes on the table, he'll sign it) so would leave him needing... what, 40-odd appearances next year? Can see it happening.

Last minute winner against Chesterfield for some reason sticks out. It seemed like we hadn't won in ages and although we never were that close to relegation, people were starting to predict us getting pulled into the fight. We had to come from behind twice and Dunk managed to scramble the winner in the 95th minute!

Aye, Its a once in a generation thing to go past 400 games for a single club. Spriggs left us in 87 I think so it's almost 40 years. Its fair to think I will never see another player like Dunk in my life time so I'm going to hold him tight and appreciate him whenever he breaks the record or not.
If he DOES break the record though renaming the stadium wouldn't do him justice.

52 games I think. Currently 5th. Dunk - 450 Steve Fallon - 475 Harvey Cornwell - 486 Steve Spriggs - 497 Russell Crane - 502 Andrew Good stats, where did you find them? I have looked a few times, but never found what I was looking for. I guess they must be total appearances, because memory told me that both Spriggs and Fallon were around 450 league appearances., Spriggsy just in front.

Spriggs left us in 87 I think so it's almost 40 years. That sounds painful, for someone born in 1988.

I remembered seeing doug tweet them a while ago so had a look through his old tweets. Andrew Not only was it Dunk's 450th appearance in all competitions it was also his 300th in the Football League which puts him in outright 5th place within that statistic. He had previously been level with Twinny on 299. Spriggs holds the League appearances record with 416

Is there a website with an up to date list on for the club do you know? I remember the Kevin Palmer books from the 80's/90's with the information for the players of that era but nothing in recent times. TIA.

All of these stats are courtesy of Andrew Bennett's records which I am continuing to maintain along with a few new spreadsheets of my own. I liaise with Doug every now and again to make sure we both have the same numbers which helps to rectify the odd error which almost always crops up every now and again. It's been mentioned on here before but it would be good to have them published publicly somewhere and I'm more than happy to share the info - it's for everyone after all. I've already sent the main sheets to some people associated with Coconuts along with a couple of others one of whom is looking to finish the work Andrew had started on what was to be his last book. I *think* the intention is to get these stats published somewhere but I'm not 100% sure.

Not quite sure if this is right but an Airtable might be the right place to host it, spreadsheet form and could be updatable in real time

I am surprised the club don't maintain these records, most clubs would have that sort of data made available by a club historian. I know Andrew Bennett fulfilled that role very well, but his records were done independently of the club. This data should be part of the club's history.
