But Posh have always signed good prospect players and then sold them on for lots. When was the last time we sold a player for a million plus? You have to question DOF again They've signed good prospect players by blowing other teams out of the water in terms of what they offer for and to them in the first place. They paid £240k for George Boyd. From the Conference. In 2007. And that was just the start of it. Other clubs put the hard work in in developing players & then they swoop in and throw money at them, tie them to long contracts and then sell them on. We don't have the money to be making high six-figure investments up front in players & putting them on 4 or 5-year contracts with good wages, which is where the bargaining power for the transfer fees they get actually comes from, because we simply can't afford the risk in getting that wrong. Peterborough can and since their takeover always have been able to absorb and write off failed investments, of which there have been plenty over the years – so we're one of the clubs that has to focus on developing our own players. That's the top and bottom of it. They haven't developed, blooded & sold on a single one of their own home-grown players for ages. Ricky-Jade Jones will be the first in years and years and years. Exeter are the club we should be looking to emulate, not Peterborough. We're not operating in the same business as them.

Nobody is coming to help on Saturday - we’ll be going with what we have.

Gordon sent back to Palace so perhaps we are expecting someone through the door?

Mellon recalled from Morecambe by Burnley. Have to think he'll be going back out somewhere in our league. Can't imagine it'll be us but you never know I suppose. More likely Fleetwood, given Adam was Burnley's loan manager, or perhaps Wigan.

Another day and no striker, trying not to panic. Only 10 clubs in the L1, fewer than half the clubs in the division, have made any signings so far. It's always tempting to think that every one has stuff lined up and are putting pen to paper on deals in the first 48 hours after the window opens, but the reality is we're (currently) in the majority position.

That normally wouldn’t be a problem but we have no fit strikers as things stand. Perhaps the club will announce someone soon.

I'm sure we *could* have signed someone by now if we wanted but from what Bonner said most windows I think we're happy enough to wait for the right availability and from what Harris said the other week our targets have obviously changed and that's meant we're a little bit behind with our prep.
I'll be disappointed/annoyed if we go into Saturday without a striker but in fairness we've adapted well enough in 2 of the 3 games we've played without one so I'm not in full on panic mode just yet and if we can score two away at Blackburn I see no reason why we can't score past a Fleetwood managed by Charlie fecking Adam...
...that said, one of those three games was painfully abysmal and we currently have very limited scope for changing things in all areas of the pitch - except in central defence where we have the new Shaggy masquerading as a center back.
It's a bit messy admittedly, but we've adapted quite well and I'm confident we'll be stronger when we leave the window.
Also though...sign a fecking striker! 😬

If he went to Fleetwood, surely they would have to get rid of Stockley or their other big £££ striker whose name I forget (Marriot?) Maybe my dream will come true and we’ll sign Cole The Goal from Burton and Harris being the striker whisperer, will turn him back into the 2022 version.

Mellon would be good.
If we could add Berry too they'd make a lovely, um, pair.

Really weird what's happened to Stockton these past 2 years. He had a ridiculous final 4 games but was absolutely toilet for the vast majority of last season, & he's got 1 goal in 16 appearances this year (albeit only 4 league starts). Exposed at L1 level perhaps?

Considering their owner is literally a criminal fraudster, I'm not sure they'd have to do anything. Fun Fleetwood fact: Ahadme has comfortably outscored Marriott this season in terms of total goals, goals:appearances and goals-per-minute.
