Aye, I recall. Times have changed somewhat though.

I’m off the fence with Brophy after today’s cross that went over everyone’s head in the 95th minute.
Thanks for your contribution over the past 3 seasons and I’ll follow the rest of your career alongside Knibbs, Ironside, Mitov,Smith, Iredale etc. All the best for the future.
He didn’t deserve the absolute dogs abuse the 2 fans either side of me in the S.Habbin gave him when he came on though.

I think he knows he’s off at the end of the season and will take a payday elsewhere

I really hope we’ll spend some money on some better players this time instead of spending so much on the training ground

I really hope we’ll spend some money on some better players this time instead of spending so much on the training ground we have the training ground now and hopefully will help the club with attracting better players in the future. Strangely enough, I'd take a slightly better (just above relegation) season next year and the year after, in order to spend MORE money on off-field projects - namely the redevelopment. It's the ONLY way we will be able to compete or even challenge in the future and finally spend some money on better players.

Be interesting to see if monk wants to keep any of the lads currently here on loan / short term deals at the end of the season too. I can imagine that Ahadme and Gibbons would have suitors elsewhere and I think league two beckons for Taylor and Bonne.

Wouldn't be averse to Gibbons being here next season – particularly not if Bennett does get sold – which isn't what I was saying after his first few appearances. Although if we were to have wing-backs as a primary formation next season then I wouldn't want him as a first choice in it.

I'd be fairly confident Gibbons will at least be offered a deal. Monk seems to rate him and he'd be a useful option being able to play on both sides. Similarly think we'll go for Ahadme if possible but think it's far less likely he'll stay.

Difference between Gibbons & Ahadme is that Ahadme is under contract next season.

A higher capacity might justify promoting the club as an entertainment attraction locally to a greater extent. I think money making investments, like our own LED advertising boards, would make higher wages possible too. Probably with less delay. Wrexham money might be spending over our heads next season. Competing for players we can't afford to pay. Hopefully that will make things a little less cut-throat at our end of the player budget spectrum.

What is interesting is that when Gibbons arrived, the talk was of him being competition for Lennett, not many expected him to do so well on the left side of the defence'. I'd definitely offer him a deal, if only for his versatility.

I can’t really remember who is contracted or not & apparently I started this thread but I would I would only be looking to keep Mannion, Andrew, Morrison, Zeno, Lennett, Jobe, Digby + the young guys who have been kept on. I’m torn on Okedina.
Would offer Ahadme & Gibbons deals & support Thomas through the recovery & then see where he’s at.
Contracted or not the rest can go.
If we assume Lennett leaves then
GK / Mannion / Chadwick
Gibbons + 1
Morrison / Zeno / Jobe +1 (Okedina)
Andrew + 1
George, Glenn, Digby (Thomas)
Njoku
+ Kaunda, Barton.
That looks quite a hefty rebuild which isn’t ideal but this attacking / creative unit has to go.

Agree with this, although I'd potentially look to move Digby on too, depending how expensive he is. I'd be happy with him as a squad option but suspect he's on a starter's wage. It's a massive rebuild but I don't agree that we should keep people on just to reduce the amount of new signings. I'd much prefer Monk to have the maximum amount of headroom in the wage bill to rebuild in his image.
