It's still early days, sort of, but he's been a bit hit and miss. Some games he's looked excellent, others like today, he's looked out of his depth. Not ready to turn on him yet but I'm not sure he quite fits the team at times. Because of Iredale's attacking habits, I think a more defensively minded LW would be better suited. Maybe worth giving Dunk a go soon.

He's too slow for a forward and since he's certainly not a defender than that would make him a left midfielder It seems like an O's supporting mate of mine was right when he told me Brophy was a 'one good game in five' type of player as by my reckoning that's exactly what he's done so far in a U's shirt this season. ps - obviously I can only hope that he comes good in time as that 3 year contract is looking like a bad idea right now. And anyway it's a bit early (and a tad unfair) to write him off at this early stage.

I think he's been decent so far. Good work rate, takes his man on but if course he has his faults, like all at this level
Too many twists and turns before putting a cross in and always coming to the ball being the major flaws for me. I'd like to see him run into space rather than getting in Iredales way

Welcome to the subject of this evening's finger-pointing tai chi.

He's fine. I love how brave he is on the ball, how good he is at carrying it, and how capable he is in tight situations.
I don't think he's particularly good with the final ball or when he has to think, but other than that I'm happy enough.

I have it from a good source he is the quickest player at the club over 50 yards when they have measured the players against each other (even faster than Shilow or Sam Smith).

I really think we could have a hell of a player in the making and a player that we can actually make a few quid out of

Can't see us making any money out of Brophy - he's what, 27? Quick but very poor passing and crossing ability - he's unlikely to improve those attributes at his age.
Fwiw I think he's ok. If we got to the stage of pushing on in league 1 we could definitely look to upgrade him, but he's fine for now.

Slow? If anything he doesn’t use his pace enough.

Too slow is a quite incredible comment.

Slow? Vanni must have missed how quick he is on iFollow.
Odd that Brophy has the finger pointed at him when we get beat. He was our best threat against Gillingham and was very good against Ipswich and Sheffield Wednesday.

It’s always when we get beat that those kinda comments come out, nows certainly not the time for finger pointing, get behind the lads and support because they’re going to need it, far to much negativity on this place sometimes.

Lose a game badly and somebody’s ‘signing thread’ will end up bumped to the top for some top in depth analysis. Brophy’s turn today.

Agree its a bit poor to finger point at one player given how bad we were collectively as a team yesterday.
Conceding early again put us on the backfoot and the red card after we equalised was a turning point. We need to address the slow starts and am sure Bonner will look at how we correct this moving forward.
Brophy played well against Sheffield Wednesday and its to early to write off the lad.

I like Brophy usually neat and tidy and always works hard. Frustrating thing yesterday was both he and Tracey had the beating of their men but rarely did it. Always cut back and slowed things up. I want them both to have more confidence. Take their men on and fire a cross over or have a pop at goal
