Why did we play today rather than next Tuesday like most teams?

Well done lads great win, let’s hope the butchers bill isn’t too high in the morning. Worrying about Smithy’s leg injury.

Why did we play today rather than next Tuesday like most teams? We asked to move it forward because the weather disrupted some of our pre-season & also it gives us a clearer schedule for Oxford & Exeter. Millwall agreed.

Why did we play today rather than next Tuesday like most teams? Mentioned earlier but it was at our request to use it as a bit of an extra preseason.

Liam O'Neil – 6 goals in 5-and-a-half years. All in wins, 4 of them winners.

Great that Liam got another goal. I really want him to be another Bonner success story. But goal aside what I saw tonight was a lack of committment in that defensive midfield role.

Highly satisfactory run out for the wider squad and great to see Greg get a whole game, as it was to see an excellent debut from Zeno and really good contributions from everyone. Shilow and Saikou scared Millwall’s defence frequently and it was only a matter of time before Honeyman saw red after that ridiculous foul on Shilow in the first half. Great goal from an excellent move too, and well done to Liam for a cracking finish.
Above all, our passing was generally very good, movement and pace decent throughout and we played some crisp and zippy football again. Not getting remotely carried away but we have started the season very positively and we look a good side.

Yeah I mean he took his goal well but he did struggle in that role and shouldn’t have got MOM. Tracey was excellent and was my MOM.
Positives obviously getting the minutes into players who needed it. Taylor despite a couple of bits of sloppy defending we got away with he done okay considering the amount of time he’s been put.
Mannion and Rossi done well and that’s the best I’ve seen Okedina play at right back. Simper grew into the game well and definitely has something about him.

I thought it took us a while to grow into the game. It was a little frustrating to see us struggle to keep the ball even if we were as organised and disciplined as ever.
Once we asserted ourselves after about 25 minutes or so I thought we were excellent and apart from almost gifting them a goal we looked pretty comfortable.
Pleasing to see us keep a clean sheet with four changes to the defence (five once Williams went off). Really encouraging to see Greg back after a year out and he mostly looked as dependable as he always does.
Our goal was something to behold. Wonderful build up and a great finish from Liam. I hope the highlights show the move from the beginning.

A good solid win now we have a squad of many players who can slot in and do a Job probably our strongest 20 odd players we have had as a squad for many years.

Really good win tonight against a strong Millwall side, I thought they edged the first half but we improved and deserved the win overall. Fantastic to see Greg play 90 mins and look good, great to see the new lads too. Superb start to the season given how tough the games have been!

Just so much potential with this team and this club. I know we don’t have resources and stuff but what a manager we have. On such an upward trajectory that results like this don’t even feel that alien. Obviously there’s gonna be bumps in the road but it’s exciting ain’t it.

Completely agree, however I would add that the limited resources we have seem to have been spent very well indeed on the evidence of our first two competitive matches. Zeno, Saikou and Brandon looked to be fine additions to the squad tonight and I’m sure Fejiri will be too when he is match fit. Once again we seem to have demonstrated our clear transfer strategy in those we’ve bought in and they really do seem to complement an already good squad. Wonderful to see excellent performances from Lewis Simper and also Ben Worman when he came on. Happy days, and as someone said above probably the most complete and high quality squad I can remember in a long time.
