He's spoken about getting two for the forward positions. Given both Mullin and Smith played in the right forward position I would not worry too much about the semantics.

Janneh had the most impact first half. Early days though. Less said about Stevens the better. Let’s put that display down to nerves. FFS. makes me angry reading that. Seriously, what does Mannion have to do?? Never put a foot wrong for us. He should be number 1. Obviously, I'm judging by one comment about one half in a pre season friendly but still. Bonner out. Is this just an NRE thing or are the Habbin and Main stand supporters getting the same level of searching? I’m not even the smoke bomb demographic. |

I thought that was really good. We were a bit shaky the first 15 mins but that was partly down to Ipswich coming out the blocks.
Once we settled we looked a really good team. Some great interchanging play which is certainly new compared to last season. Betsy has maybe started to transition play already and Lankester will thrive off it, he was outstanding today.
Gassan will get goals in this team and he works his socks off. We definitely need more squad depth but I was impressed with what I saw today.

Just a comment on the catering today behind main stand. 2 people serving and so slow that most people walked away as the second half started. Waste of an opportunity to make money and really poor all round. Surely they can do better

svh Role swapping? Overlapping, switching sides of the pitch, target becoming secondary forward and vice versa?What sort of "interchanging play" are we looking at this season?

Lankester played as the second striker in the second half as we went 4-4-1-1 and Ipswich couldn’t deal with him.
Thomas showing he can be a box to box midfielder, dropping deep to recycle the ball. The full backs pinning Ipswich in as we were by far the better side in the second half. Lots of one touch football and not so much punting it up top and playing for second balls. It looks promising and for a pre season friendly it was very enjoyable to watch.

They’ve probably still got the breathalysers stashed away Not sure how many times this needs to be said, but it’s all agency stewards clearly, so expect they are told what to do by their bosses. |
