What was that all about? At a pre-season friendly too - don’t get that level of a “patting down” at the riskiest of away matches. Is this just an NRE thing or are the Habbin and Main stand supporters getting the same level of searching? I’m not even the smoke bomb demographic. This is the kind of thing United sporadically do; treat their support like criminals. They’ve probably still got the breathalysers stashed away I’m just waiting for the bottle tops to be confiscated at the tea bars as is the norm in most of the miserable Northern towns we visit. We do seem to be getting a little ‘mainstream’ at the moment after the SC and smoking announcements.

Or the club, but that doesn’t fit your happy clapper narrative.

No sign or mention of Jobe this pre-season. Is he injured or has he left the club?

Good to be back at the Abbey and it was a decent game with plenty of commitment for a friendly.
Squad looks solid with a degree of resilience which was definitely tested after a flying start from Ipswich.
Ghassan looks very mobile and energetic. Likely to grab a few. Didn’t see much of Andrews. Ryan Bennett appears a little leaner and with a good preseason behind him could prove to be our best bit of business so far.
Credit to Bonner for giving Janneh the opportunity. Too soon to draw any conclusions but he may have matured a little and we might just get the benefit of that.
Triallist had a couple of nice touches and was quick but he’ll be judged by what he’s done in training rather than a brief cameo yesterday.
Really hope Stevens was just rusty and a little nervous. Charged down 3 times, distribution into the Habbin, Main stand and NRE and default seems to be a high, floating kick down the middle which presented little issue to the Ipswich centre backs. Did make one decent stop early in the 2nd half. It’s one game and a friendly at that so we are a long way off judgement. Hoping there is better from him to come.
Everyone knows we need more players in and that’s including the 2 or 3 potential starters currently out. It’s going to be a critical month or so ahead for our season but pleased the doldrums of the close season are almost over.

Has the pitch been widened this year after the narrower dimensions of the last 2 years. A bit difficult to gauge from those pictures, but it does look a bit wider? Would make sense if we are planning to play with wingers.

Didn't seem so to me. Marginal if at all.

No sign or mention of Jobe this pre-season. Is he injured or has he left the club? I believe he got injured very late in the season while on loan. He was explicitly mentioned as being under contract for this season despite his publicly announced deal running out in the summer, so we either had an option for a further amount of time or extended it without announcing it.
