Southend are up there. They always were spivs, chancers and a bunch of twats, but turning to murder? flip em.
They can go next to B*ro's shallow grave when the football Gods awaken from their slumber.

I don't have any particular issue with Southend but would add Luton to the list of semi-derbys. In the early mid 2010s, they were our biggest rivals by far. In terms of clubs I dislike, Luton is second only to Pish for me. Had some great games against Stevenage over the years, but they are just a bit annoying for me. A club I've always felt inferior, no matter league position or result. Have no love for Southend, either I suppose. But also don't see them as massively relevant now. Northampton are completely irrelevant. If anything they deserve credit for their dislike for Peterborough.

We had a good rivalry but always found it more banter than hatred. For me, Boro, Stevenage and Southend. Northampton’s ground is awful but the fact we both hate Boro equally endears me to them a little!

Hopefully they spend many years in the non league helll hole. As for the Histon ‘fans’ I expect most of them have come back to the Abbey. Notice Radio Pish rarely cover them anymore after their sycophantic approach a decade back

I feel uneasy tarring the club of Southend as a whole with that brush. We've got knuckle draggers of our own and would hate to be associated with them if they did something abhorrent.

Yeah, what happened to Simon Dobbin was horrendous, unforgivable and utterly ridiculous, but using it as a stick to beat the whole club and fanbase with is also silly. More than happy to be corrected on this, but I was under the impression that his attackers weren’t even Southend fans acting on a football driven agenda, just blokes from Southend out to have it with anyone.

They were Southend fans.
And of course, there are plenty of their fans who aren't like that, but they've always had a higher than average proportion of troublemakers. And the club themselves have always seemed to be weapons.

And the club themselves have always seemed to be weapons. We should be wary of throwing stones at people in glass houses, we had our own quite infamous group of 'trouble makers' in the 80s, many of whom served time for their behaviour at matches. Perhaps it was only through the grace of God that there were no incidents such as that terrible day in Southend at the hands of our own.

I had an uncle and aunt who had been United fans since childhood (30s/40s) so there was no way I’d ever have been a City fan!

Well there was that Chelsea fan, but still feels a bit apples and oranges. Hooligans fighting hooligans when that was the done thing is a bit different to what those cowards did to a lovely bloke minding his own business.
Anyway, don't want to push too far down this line, as you say it's not the first and won't be the last unsavoury incident. But I also don't like that club, and I think that's understandable enough.

A lifetime of loathing for Luton. Urgh. That said, I found myself cheering them on in the Premier League, which seemed preverted.
But then I realised that it's the entitled, braying, lawless rich that I really fecking hate in fooball & in life.
Good afternoon.
