Agree with that, I'd have no problem sticking with Jibs, he clearly has impressed GM since returning from preseason so i think it would now be his shirt to lose for opening day No chance. If we're 3 at the back and everyone's fit it'll be Ibsen Rossi, Morrison and Watts (or possibly Andrew).

I still think we need a CB especially if we play a 3. Watts & Rossi have historic injury concerns plus Morrison 37. Dont want to be mid october and its a back 2/3 of Digby. Okedina & Andrew/Gibbons!

Yeah we do and I think we'll get a young loan. Andrew can be considered a proper LCB in a 3 but Gibbons gave me the willies when he played there that one time last season, & long term I could see Digby transitioning to a CB but not yet & he should only be considered a last resort in an injury crisis, not an elective option.

Happy for Okedina to stay, although it does all seem a little forced. I don’t pay much attention to Monk praising him up for his performances etc. He’s obviously going to say that because of the situation we currently find ourselves in.
He’s someone I’d trust to come in and do a job when required, but this will test him in many ways. His attitude has to be spot on and he has to feel trusted, which is why Monk said what he did. The injury to Jobe has given him a chance, but he’s still a long way down the list for starting.

Jubril, just like most L1 players, is inconsistent and has his ups and downs but I've always thought he's good enough to play at this level. Or to put it another way, he's too good to drop down to L2.
edit - Jordan ''assists'' Cousins on the other hand is more than capable of doing a great job in the NL.

I loved Jubril when he first joined us but I think we're looking at the last couple of years through rose-tinted glasses at times. He's consistently made errors when he's been given a run in the team which is why, inevitably, he drops back out again. The pairing with Greg in particular was atrocious. I think we all know he's got ability and I hope this is "his year", but given his struggles with form, I'm not confident in him as a starter.

Hm, you may very well be right and I'm perhaps clinging on to the notion that present day Jubril is capable of reverting back to first season Jubril.

To be fair, the whole defence had been pretty error prone for much of the last two seasons, until Monk tightened things up after the Reading game last season.

Morrison and Bennett joining in January a couple of seasons back kept us up, I think. If we'd continued with Okedina and Taylor we'd have been relegated.

Yeah, Lenno coming back and Dunk returning from injury also helped (signing McGrandles helped too but I'm getting off topic. It was a good January for us)
We still weren't without individual errors - and won't be this season either - but I'd say it was mostly pretty decent last year, mostly. Can't argue Monk made a massive impact when he changed it to three at the back, although at the same time our defence was probably as bad as it's ever been in the two games before - proper chaos.

I am genuinely starting to worry now. 4 days until the season starts and we have just one fit senior striker on the books. Surely a couple to come in soon but the clock is ticking fast. Is Bonne still available?

Yeah, it's a bit frustrating. I guess we might consider Kachunga as a striker too, it's where he was at his best for Huddersfield wasn't it?
Balance of our squad feels a bit odd to me, nothing that can't be corrected with 2-3 signings but I'll be happier when we see them.

Is Bonne still available? Yep, concerns are understandable. The manager and CEO both spoke about wanting to kick on this season and do more than simply scrape survival at this level. While I think they were both being a little over ambitious in stating those aims, so far the squad assembled does not look to have the right balance to realistically meet those stated aims. Survival again this season, by any margin, will be a significant success, but if the club's aim is to do more, then IMO they don't currently have the squad to deliver.
