Boxing Day is an odd one - surely that would have been planned for 3.00 anyway?

Boxing Day is an odd one - surely that would have been planned for 3.00 anyway? I would guess it's just been chosen for TV coverage but with no change to K/O. Might make it more attractive for some to watch on the box rather than struggle with trains at Christmas.

Seems the days are gone when a live televised match can't kick off at the same time as other matches! Using the loophole that this isn't a Saturday I guess?

They’re going to have to cover us on tv a lot in the second half of the season if they’re going to show us 20 times

Just a reminder that all midweek games will be on TV so not a surprise this Charlton one is, along with every other game in the EFL.

They’re going to have to cover us on tv a lot in the second half of the season if they’re going to show us 20 times I think that includes games on the new Sky Sports + app which will show games live that aren’t at 3pm on a Saturday. So all the bank holiday games, 1st and last games of the season, midweek games will at least be available to watch on this new Sky sports app which probably total just under 20 games and it will get bumped up by at least one appearance on the main Sky Sports EFL channel like our Boxing Day game. At least that’s how I understand this new Sky deal.

Plus the Carabo & EFL Trophy games as well which bumps up the figures I guess useful to add as they've not been watchable previously, but they are all midweek fixtures so by default are available. In simple terms any game that isn't Saturday 3pm (and occasionally some of them too) or an FA Cup game will be available on Sky.

The linked article on the club website currently says the opening game against Stockport County is on Saturday, 17 August. Damn, I was hoping to view the home opener against Crawley on the 17th. *edit - now corrected

Ah, thanks for this! I bought tickets for Stockport (a) because I was sure I'd just read 17/8 then felt like a wally when I found out it was 10/8 (and can't go).

I thought all Boxing Day games were going to be on TV anyway? Yes, but looks like ours will be the featured game on Sky Sports Football rather than just streaming on Sky Sports +. Could mean a few hundred pounds extra I guess depending on the terms of the TV deal.
