I am literally clinging to moments like this at the moment in an attempt to remember why we do it, a loss tonight could be up there with the lowest I've ever felt supporting this club.
Pitch invasion at the final whistle after the Rendell winner against Stevenage:

I loved every minute of that but look at rendell is it? at the end he chased down the ball like it was the last thing he'd ever do. So much commitment and passion in that team.

That was Robbie Willmott. For all his detractors, his work rate is one of the most impressive I've seen from anyone in a U's shirt. I remember that moment vividly, with the final whistle following quickly after.
What a shame we couldn't follow through at Wembley.

We went on to lose, but the atmosphere was rather good when we were winning!

Some bloke called Ryan Chapman borrowed my VHS video of our Division 3 winning title season to transfer it to digital and I never got it back. This isn't a probelm as I don't have a video any more but Ryan, if you're out there, stick some on this thread!
PS- the season we got to wembley under Quinn was one of the best times to be a Cambridge fan. It was amazing under Beck when we were beating teams in the top division but the atmosphere at the club at that time is the best I've ever known it. It was tragic that we lost to Exeter.

I've just got a copy of the Division Three Play-Off Final v Chesterfield in 1990 but i haven't had chance to watch it yet. It's been put on to DVD and is from the Chesterfield angle with their interviews and commentators. Might settle down later with a beer and see what our best ever team was really like as i've only ever seen short clips and goals.

I think you might well enjoy that, and then come back to earth with a bump when you consider what we have available now!

Yeah, we ran them close though eh?

Not knowing how long Setanta will keep this video up for I recently nicked it off their site and put it up on youtube too ;D In case you haven't guessed and to keep the old people below happy, it is of course our 3-0 playoff semi-final win against Chavenage including Rendells 119th minute winner. My god Hatswell did some last ditch defending in that game!

I can't compare the two periods, but I certainly enjoyed that season under Quinn. It was the first time in years that we were showing signs of improvement from the previous season - huge improvement.
There was a fantastic spirit among the players and some excellent atmospheres at various matches. Losing to Exeter would've been hard to take in any circumstances, but to not even give it a real go was hugely disappointing.
If we had won that game, people would reel off the names of the key players from that season for years to come, just as they do with Beck's lot now.
