Thanks chaps. Cycling is the area I'm most concerned about, or running having cycled for however many km. In isolation I'm comfortable with the swim (I'm lucky to be in a place where swimming without a wetsuit is not uncomfortable for much of the year) and the run, though my last marathon was a chastening experience as a result of a lack of distance run in training, so I'll be trying to get the distance in for all three disciplines...all being well.

Just a quick shout out on here for anyone looking for a really good closed roads sportive to do next year. Last Sunday, for the second year running, I completed the 66-mile Etape Loch Ness in the company of my son-in-law. We have been fortunate enough to have excellent weather both times, and it really is a beautiful course. You start off before 7am going down the A82 on the north side of the Loch. This is mostly an undulating road, for which my small chainring was not required. You then reach Fort Augustus at the South-Western end and start back down the other side of the Loch. This is where it gets more challenging, with a massive climb in 3 tough 1-mile chunks. You are rewarded with a bagpiper at the top of the climb, and believe me the "skirl" of the pipes has never sounded sweeter! There follows a wonderful gradual descent for the most part, with a few steeper bits, and one or two sharp upkicks to remind your legs they still need to work, before you head back into Inverness to be rewarded with free beer samples, cream buns and sausage rolls. Great course, great scenery, and brilliant organisation. www.etapelochness.com/.

Happened to be driving through central London on Thursday and went past a really.... really long queue of people. Was surprised to see it was one of those big Evans bike stores they were queuing to get in.
Londoners are being encouraged to avoid public transport and walk and cycle if possible, and that little snapshot suggested they are heeding that advice. Not too sure I’d want to be sat on a tube train twice a day either.
Really noticeable how many cyclists there are out recreationally at the moment too. Lots of couples and families out in the countryside which is very nice to see.
Every cloud and all that.
