I actually think PB did that quite deliberately to see if it would generate offers for Robbie and Josh. That also probably explains why Jez was quick to offer a 'hands off' in the paper the other night before this silly fee was offered. I reckon we'll probably end up with a maximum of £25k for Robbie with a lousy sell on.

If the situation isn't urgent, as we're led to believe, then the club should not be so short-sighted as to sell Robbie for well below his market value.
The only thing that makes this less black and white than that is the fact that he's out of contract, and who knows what a tribunal would decide.

I think we would get an extra couple of grand for him if we got him to change his name to something beginning with 'A' then he would creep into the top scorers board on alphabetical order...

We really are a terribly naïve club when it comes to transfer negotiations.

£5k would buy Robbie's little toe, Jez should have named and shamed in the CEN.

I reckon we'll probably end up with a maximum of £25k for Robbie with a lousy sell on. Paul Barry hasn't got the brain power to think of something like that. Gez George is showing his inexperience by spouting exact money figures into the public domain...both out of their depths when it comes to being directors of a football club. Maybe Jez put the £5k figure out there to deter other clubs from offering stupid amounts of money for Robbie. He's basically saying don't even bother trying to rip us off that much. Remember when Histon targeted our best players a couple of years back with a stupid nominal fee as an offer, I reckon whoever offered is defiantly a prick like Evans or Westley taking the piss. Maybe it was Barrow?

...anyone else think it was pretty stupid for Barry to go public about selling at the start of the transfer window? I think it was a deliberate ploy aimed more at our own fans who were increasingly getting at the manager and players, and talking down the already below expectation gates, than a serious we have a large unpaid bill and administration is imminent type message. If it was the plan then it may well have worked as the Ling out noises have quietened significantly, performances have improved a little and there is quite a buzz in the fanbase about helping improve attendances, specifically the major push for the Wrexham match. The speculation about possibly having to sell our star players for peanuts also ups the local media publicity. Of course if the Wrexham match is as dire as the Histon match it all backfires and there is still time to take the best offer on the table for Robbie.
