He signed a new contract with City fairly recently! I hope this isn't true, he's a player I'd love to see in a United shirt.

It is true. He is training with them today and for the rest of the week.

This doesn't surprise me - a player scoring goals at any level will attract the attention of higher-up clubs.
I remember Lloyd Opara failed to have any impact here, but later ended up on trial at Chelsea thanks to his (to be fair, impressive) non-league scoring exploits.
From what I've seen, I'd be surprising if Craig isn't back with the Lilywhites in the near future. Having said that, I wish him luck with his trial (while obviously hoping we haven't let a potential star slip away!).

Lloyd Opara - there's a name from the past. Whatever happened to him? Anyone know what level he is playing at now?

Lloyd Opara - there's a name from the past. Whatever happened to him? Anyone know what level he is playing at now? Last I heard he was at Haringey Borough (currently Spartan South Mids Premier; step 9 of the football pyramid, feeding into Southern regional leagues - the same division as Royston Town). Wiki agrees (for what that's worth), but a quick visit to their website doesn't let me know one way or the other if he's still there!

Wasn't Opara bombed out for his poor attitude?
My stand out memory of him was a cool one-on-one finish when we drubbed Cheltenham 3-0 at Whaddon Road.

He was one of many players we seem to hear of with bags of talent but an apparent attitude that stops him pulling his weight and fulfilling his potential.
A shame, because I really like him as a player (and he was cracking on Championship/Football Manager).
I seem to remember he also had awful dress sense...being described by a team mate in an interview as dressing like a McDonalds employee...

^^ He's played for a staggering amount of teams, and he' still only 31. Bit like our Trev I guess. I suppose the amount of appearances he has made for each club could suggest he's a bit of a handful: Years Team Apps† (Gls)† 2001–2002 Colchester United 6 (0) 2002–2003 Cambridge United 10 (1) 2003 Stevenage Borough 1 (0) 2003 → Enfield (loan) 4 (2) 2003 Braintree Town 1 (0) 2003 Hornchurch 5 (1) 2003–2004 Grays Athletic 11 (3) 2004 Swindon Town 0 (0) 2004 St Albans City 2 (0) 2004 Bishop's Stortford 1 (1) 2005 Redbridge 15 (5) 2005 → Chelmsford City (loan) 1 (0) 2005–2006 Cheshunt 25 (18) 2006 → Peterborough United (loan) 8 (1) 2006–2007 Peterborough United 11 (1) 2007 → Burton Albion (loan) 1 (0) 2007 Cheshunt 10 (6) 2007 Windsor & Eton 1 (0) 2007 Harlow Town 1 (0) 2007 Potters Bar Town 0 (0) 2007 Waltham Forest 2 (0) 2007–2008 Arlesey Town 2 (1) 2008 Cheshunt 3 (0) 2008 Broxbourne Borough 6 (2) 2008– Haringey Borough 39 (16)

I've got him completely mixed up with someone else, who was the guy that went to Leeds for a bit after spending some time with us? I was sure that was Opara!

That was Tresor Kandol.
Whilst at Luton, he used to enjoy dodging train fares.

The only recent Cambridge player I can think of who went to Leeds is Bradley Johnson.

Kandol didn't go straight to Leeds after leaving us, but he definitely ended up there.
