Regardless of the state of the vote, Trump presidential term does not end until 20th January.
He doesn't have to concede and has plenty of time to sort out grounds however legally flimsy to take legal challenges all the way to the Supreme Court if he wants. If his pet governors in states that were called for Biden refuse to go along with the vote until the supreme court decides then Trump might still win.
I also worry what damage a truly lame duck President Trump might do if he was forced to concede with 2 1/2 more months in office. No one would be surprised if he behaved like a toddler throwing the mother of all tantrums. He's doing a good impression of that already. He must know how he will be treated the day he leaves office. All that faux respect will be gone overnight.

This is the worry for me. I can see him doing all he possibly can to go down swinging. It doesn't take a lot to get the gun toting inbreds riled up so can see him trying to start a civil war.

To be honest the Antifa brigade have been trying to do that for the last few months, I thought once it was clear Biden had all but won they would stop but looking at some of the social media posts showing videos of them just last night that doesn't look like it will be the case... I can't see Trump conceding so he will use every legal bit of clout he can to delay the inevitable. To show how he wasn't even particularly liked by a number of Republicans they have been saying what a great result this is, they kept the senate which will block any major changes Biden tries to put through and as they didn't lose too badly they see a chance to win again in 2024 with a more, shall we say 'normal' candidate.

In what passes as the mind of the planet's self-proclaimed greatest businessman of all time...
'I've been talking with my good friend John, and we're gonna have a coalition. Yep, the biggest and bestest that the world has ever seen.'
Always a deal to be done.

Bye bye Trump. Look on the bright side, you can now spend more time doing the things that you enjoy and excel at:
1. behaving like a racist, white supremacist prick.
2. sexually assaulting loads of women and then paying them off for silence.
3. lying through your teeth about everything and anything.
Have a great retirement.

"You`re Fired!!!"
On a serious note the next few days will be crucial for the future of the US. It`s blatantly obvious to anyone with an iota of intelligence that Trump is a chronic narcissist now in the full throes of a complete mental breakdown , and to prevent serious civil unrest it`s vital that the sensible wing of the Republican party isolate and muzzle him as quickly as possible. If you want to be charitable (or naive) you can believe that they`ll do it for the good of the nation but the more cynical (and realistic) amongst us know that plenty of GOP members are already eyeing up the 2024 race and know that tying themselves too closely to a basket case like Trump who`s willing to incite civil war to avoid facing up to the truth of his defeat won`t look like a good career move in four years time. The cracks in the Republican party have already started to appear , and for the sake of the GOP and the US as a whole let us hope they continue to widen.

And yet some struggled to differentiate Trump from Biden? Astounding.

Wonder whether Trump will be the Republican candidate in 2024.
Hopefully that will be on his mind at least until 20th January. If he thinks he will come back from this defeat his last couple of months in power may be less insane.

The world is a much better place this morning. I think I'll enjoy watching that narcissistic, lying, racist, misogynist in meltdown.

I dunno...I hope he finds peace. Everybody has moments of self awareness or has someone that can reach them so I hope that happens and he accepts defeat in a manner that's best for the country (and by extension the world given America's general trend setting political influence)
Despite losing the vote he still received a huge amount of support, record numbers of people who he can still influence positive or negatively. It's a massive couple of months and he still has a very important role to play.
As for Biden...his speech hit the right note for me. All about unification, acceptance, talking and listening to each other to cool some of the anger and hostility. It's a good start.

As much as I wanted Trump out I am pleased that Biden is not taking over until after the brexit implementation period end day. Things are messy enough as it is and we need the certainty that deal with the EU brings with it more than ever now that proposed trade negotiations with the USA are likely to take a turn for the worse. One would hope Biden's win has focussed Downing Street on the urgent need to meet our treaty obligations for a deal with the EU.
