Early 80's I thought..? Andrew Maybe right, but I thought it was towards the end of his career, mid 30s, which would have been around the late 80s.

I read Steve Claridge signed for John Beck as a admired him as a player. He thought he was going to be signing for a team in the mould of Beck as a player!! Maybe Socrates could also have made that mistake.

Lockdown Legend returns. Brilliant news. Example of a player who had more ability that the robustness of his body.
For me, he was MOTM against Grimsby to get us up and has scored one of my favourite goals ever.
He will be an awesome coach and the U18's will learn lots from him. If he can empart some of his heart as a player then we will get a good crop coming through.

If only we had signed Socrates when he was captain of Brazil. Rumour has it he was considering doing a one year post graduate course at Cambridge University and would have signed on loan for the season. There was a similar rumour to that for a big big name player a few years ago. Ibrahimovic maybe? Or someone who was about to retire

Arsene Wenger’s daughter studies here and he’s a frequent visitor when not sitting on vast piles of money in Geneva making up new football rules. He could have been a comedy 5000/1 shot for MB’s replacement if the media thought he’d want to spend more time with his daughter.

Would have been interesting to see if that would have affected the markets!
