We can't be cutting back that much on the playing budget as almost all of our squad is contracted for next year. The only room for manouevre is with Willmott, Partridge, Gray, Ives & Roberts.
It'll be the season after the fwee year plan that gets hit

So that's five who can go, and maybe a couple more who could feasibly attract a fee, or at least clubs willing to take them off our hands for nowt.
That would represent significant cutting back. And the club will decide if there's any merit in terminating contracts; presumably not all the players have deals whereby the full whack would have to be paid up?
I'm hoping we don't have to face that reality, but I'm just saying it seems a bit sanguine to talk about signing League players in the summer when, at present, a less rosey future looks more likely.
I'm positive in the long-term, but the next six to eight months could be very disconcerting off the pitch...but maybe not.

No way should we be taking anyone in so I'm sure this can be disposed of quickly.
As stated above the big issue is that we have most people on two year contracts so finding more investment is a must if we want to exist in our current form next year

What happened to the three year plan? Presumably that was budgetted for?

You're suggesting that we will maintain the playing budget despite losing money hand over fist? We will sell less season tickets for next season and the losses will increase.
Cuts will be made as things stand. If five players are out of contract, five players will be released - and they won't be replaced.

No I'm saying that there won't be drastic changes made quite yet - I'm fully expecting us to fill the gaps with youth players but I'd be very, very surprised if we went as far as coming to an agreement to release players that will still be under contract.

Didn't Ling say on the radio that there would definitely be no new bodies brought in this January? That the only movement would be people leaving?

He did, aye.
On which note: Ives has had his loan at Bury extended by another month.

If Saar stays in the midfield then MMK could be a replacement for a midfield player (indirectly).

No, there won't be drastic changes yet, I'm talking about the summer. If our position hasn't improved, I do expect drastic measures on and off the pitch.
