Spriggs is 448 all comps (416 league) and Fallon 447 all comps (410 league). After them two, anyone know the top 5 or 10? H and Greg among them - Shaggy is 381 and Alan Kimble 355 apps. Thank you, I knew it was close, but not that close. I had a figure of 455 in my mind for Spriggsy, but the memory isn't what it was!

I think Doug and hall of fame include friendlies .. no other places give these players such high numbers. My numbers are from Brian Attmore and Graham Nurse and wouldn't doubt them two. They have Crane on 433 but accept the record is not complete because of the war and would have played more. Would be great to have a proper official list.

I'm with you, great source of information, and I am surprised our club archives don't have definitive figures.

Big congrats to Harrison. Including his games for Bromley, he has now made over 500 appearances.
Started this season like a train....
He is completely one of our all time finest...

Definitely. 400+ appearances across 3 leagues & been a first-choice in 2 different positions. You don't get the likes of that very often in football – certainly not these days.

Using the books by Paul Daw and Kevin Palmer + my own records I make our top 20 most capped players since we joined the league (excluding friendlies):
Player Apps Subs Total
Steve Spriggs 463 5 468 Steve Fallon 447 5 452 Harrison Dunk 330 100 430 John Taylor 297 102 399 Alan Kimble 364 4 368 Tom Finney 359 9 368 Greg Taylor 340 16 356 Andy Duncan 322 13 335 Paul Wanless 313 22 335 Josh Coulson 309 13 322 Malcolm Webster 286 286 Terry Eades 272 272 Jamie Murray 251 20 271 Luke Berry 227 28 255 Danny O’Shea 229 21 250 Graham Watson 229 4 233 Phil Chapple 229 4 233 Ian Ashbee 222 12 234 John Vaughan 226 226 Gary Clayton 199 14 213
If Dunk continues to play as well as he is, he will probably be the most capped player we have had by the end of the season.

Harrison is on 432 club appearances (331 starts and 101 subs).
Friendlies per se are not included BUT any match with a trophy on offer has been counted.

Luke Berry is our 14 longest-serving player even though he left us for the second time when he’d only just turned 25? That surprised me

Most-capped is different from longest-serving.
But that feels about right – he made his debut at 17, was a first-choice at 18 years old & was more or less an automatic starter whenever he was fit for 5-and-a-half seasons in all. He'd already made 150 appearances by the time he left for Barnsley.

Cambs Invitation Cup? One of your missing starts will certainly be the Absolute Sports Travel Cup. Now before anyone blows a gasket and says "that's only a pre-season friendly" well so were CPC games in the 2000's but they still count. Believe me I get the argument but there has to be a set criteria to work from otherwise we all end up with different figures. My figures are actually those of Andrew Bennett which I have kept up to date since 2018 (although not EVERY spreadsheet as there were too many to describe here - sorry mate if you're listening). I've continued the most important/relevant ones whilst creating a few of my own from his figures, The whole subject is a minefield which is why over the last few months I discussed the "what actually counts as an appearance" debate with numerous people which included people within Coconuts, the club itself, Doug S and also the official Cambridge City historian. The consensus we reached changed very little from the original figures except the stats for that one competition which were added. I'm not sure where your missing sub appearance is but Harrison's figures are broken down as follows League 284 (85) FA Cup 19 (6) League Cup 6 (2) FA Trophy 7 EFL Trophy 13 (6) Playoffs 1 (2) ASTC 1 Total 331 (101) P.S. One of the discoveries Andrew made were the errors within the records of both Paul Daw (and possibly Kevin Palmer but don't quote me on that). It's not a criticism as like all data collection of this size mistakes get made even by Andrew as I've discovered a few along the way. There will undoubtedly be further errors in my own figures over the years but having compared Harrison and Greg's stats with numerous people we are confident that these figures at least are definitely correct :-)

Big ask I know but it would be great for there to be some sort of public access for this sort of thing. As far as I'm aware, there just isn't an easily searchable source for this type of info.

I completely agree as this info should be "for everyone" but how it could be done needs some thought. It could probably be uploaded to any of the club/CFU/Coconuts websites but would need some discussion with the owners. Maybe it could be done at the end of each season once the final figures have been checked. Probably not feasible to do it more often than that as it takes me around 2 hours to update all the sheets post-match as it is. I have also learned not to do the updating after I've had a few

Haha well I'm glad Andrew's legacy is living on in that respect as it's a huge labour of love.

I’ll be so sad when Dunk goes. He really does epitomise the journey.
