Looks pretty solid so far this season, and tonight did fine against an established top flight team.

He was poor tonight (particularly first half) but they were a PL team and knew who to target so very unfair to judge just on tonight’s performance.

After watching the first half against Southampton, I'm wondering if he's played left back before this season. Positioning all over the place, reading of the game well off. Certainly no upgrade on jack Love how you're judging him against players who play in the Premier League I agree. The problem was the lack of back up. He kept being drawn in centrally leaving the flank unprotected. Janneh needed to come back and cover. Tbf that is a waste of his (Janneh's) talents

Tbf that is a waste of his (Janneh's) talents Well he won't ever be a starter for us unless he adds it to his game because we're not a team that can do without that defensive protection from our wide players.

Bonz said after today's game that Brandon has had a reccurrence of the calf injury that kept him out for virtually all of last season, and that he'll be "out for a while".
I know fans get frustrated when we have players who are perma-injured but it must be devastating for him too. He's come here as a promising signing to replace Jack Iredale, had a bad injury 5 minutes after signing and now it's happened again it potentially puts his whole career in jeopardy.
It guess, with Dunk also being a bit fragile, that's why we've needed to bring Danny Andrew in.

Yeah, that's sad for him. Long term injuries are devastating for him so I hope we support him on that.

Yeah, that's sad for him. Long term injuries are devastating for him so I hope we support him on that. Andrew I can appreciate it is good employer practice to support a player through injury. How many injuries with how little game time before they are more patient than player? Can we really expect him to play at this level if he can't even train without breaking down again after a long time out recouperating? Perhaps our "treatment centre" is just not enough for him. Hard as it is, I think on a limited wage budget we can't afford to carry these injuries much longer.

Aside from the morals of it, we're contractually obliged to support him through his injury. I'd agree that we shouldn't be offering him a contract extension like we did with Leon Davies, but I'm glad that we're the sort of club who do that time to time when it makes sense to.
I'm sure in the long run, with I'd guess Barry Corr being an example, how the club treats players having a hard time influences future signings and the chances of them coming back as well.

Why are we panicking about his injury? It is a muscle injury, which is rarely career ending. The way some are speaking on here, he is only fit for the knackers yard! It's a recurrence of an earlier injury, suggests he wasn't recuperated sufficiently from the previous injury and needs to be nursed back to full fitness, which no doubt we will be able to now, left back is adequately covered with Andrew, Dunk and Brophy.

@ imp566 "left back is adequately covered with Andrew, Dunk and Brophy."
Which also supports not signing him again.I don't think we could move him out of a contract here now he has it.

It is a potential career ender. Not because of the physical nature of the injury, but because it massively affects his chances of getting another professional club. Bear in mind he only played 17 league games in the season before he joined us. If he's now going to be injured for as much of this season as he was last season (which I appreciate isn't a given, but is certainly a possibility) then we're potentially talking about a 27 year old being released from Cambridge United next summer with around 25 league appearances across the three previous seasons and only 85-90 league appearances in total across his career. Where does a player go from there? He might find a deal somewhere, but he could easily find himself on a part time contract with a smaller club in the conference or something to that effect. By comparison, if he'd put last season behind him, had a great pre-season and nailed down a starting birth in our squad this coming year, his career come next summer could have looked very different. I feel bad for him because it's not his fault he's had a torrid time with injury, but if this injury is bad, then it really could be enough to put him out the professional game.

Are you trying to say that a 26 year old professional, with a track record at L1 and in the Scottish Prem won't get picked up by another club because of a recurrence of a muscle injury? I think that's highly unlikely. Yes, he does need to ensure that his rehab this time is effective, but no reason to believe if he dopes that that he would be as big a risk to a club as if he were recovering form an injury that required surgery.
