Anyone else glad that in 24 hours this'll all be over. It's been a while since I've mentally checked out on a season so much. Ready for a break. Agree, doing this two seasons in a row is too much. Last year had a manager we wanted the best for and a group of players who deserved to go out on a high. Nothing against Monk or this squad particularly but this season I want to stay up for the fans and the club more than the participants.

It has been a very weird & often miserable season for one reason or another, although there have been a few enjoyable moments along the way. I'll be glad to see the back of it, no doubt about that.

This season has felt about 3 seasons long - thinking back to beating Reading at home genuinely can't have been the same one can it?!

Very weird is so correct EG. We started ok and if you look at the end of October when we beat Carlisle and drew with Pompey & Wycombe we were very comfortable and all was well. The wheels then came off after we struggled to beat Bracknell in the cup and the Boro Humiliation which was the beginning of the end for Bonner. Harris then settled things and at Christmas we had back to back home wins and all looking up again. Then the injuries to forwards caused a disrupted January before we look settled again and then the Harris flounce. Cue Mayhem when Monk starts and then now a more settled pattern again. We have probably been ok in large parts and then for whatever reason a bombshell performance or actions occurs and disrupts. Just got to get over the line tomorrow and then we can all hopefully relax. I'm trying to stay positive because ultimately we are better off - just - than after 45 games last season.

I'd say the wheels started coming off when we got hammered 4-0 by Barnsley, followed by drawing with Shrewsbury & losing to Burton, Cheltenham & Colchester, which is what necessitated that change of formation & "reset" performance against Portsmouth. Which didn't last long obviously going into the Bracknell struggle & Peterborough.
We've had two quite lengthy bad runs this season.
Also I would say that needing a draw is more than "just" better off than needing a win + 2 other results to go our way.

With all the negativity about this squad and tomorrows result, I'm beginning to wonder if my bets on us going up and going up as champions might not pay out. Not giving up hope yet though!

Agree with everyone's comments about this season being both very weird and feeling incredibly long. I'm trying to think of another season to compare it to...and can't.

We need a point. The table looks too much like last year's when we miraculously avoided going down by the skin of our teeth because the other clubs around us screwed up.

The ‘only stay up because other teams are worse’ argument is nothing more than an indication of failure to understand how a league table works. Once everyone has played everyone else twice, with the same number of points available from each game, you finish where you deserve to finish.

Should we win and Cheltenham loose, a neutral observer would look at the final table and exclaim surprise that we were ever in a relegation battle considering we finished 6 points clear.
I can dream…..

I'm liking the theory that Port Vale will make it easy for us because they'd prefer Cheltenham or Burton to be in L2 next season.

Once everyone has played everyone else twice, with the same number of points available from each game, you finish where you deserve to finish. It’s obviously not the only reason you stay up, but we’re in a strange situation where we could go down despite getting more points than last year where we stayed up. So your finishing position is somewhat dependent on the strength of other teams. What it shows is that if you consistently get fewer than 50 points you’re playing relegation roulette and you’ll end up losing eventually.
