Apologies in advance if this has been dicussed already but has anyone talked about the real reason the club have closed the messageboard?
Is it actually a cost cutting measure? If it is then it is incredibly short sighted given that the traffic that used to go to the site to use the messageboard will now come here instead.
Well done Russ for setting something up but can we not do a bit better than 'my first messageboard' between us somehow?
Seeing the club close the messageboard after the club was put up for sale was one the darkest days as a Utd fan for some time.
Just to repeat - well done Russ (and anyone else who helped) in setting something up to allow us all to still speak.

Let's be honest, it was a shite board that had become unreliable.
I don't think it's anything more sinister than that.

The messageboard was shut down because it crashed anytime something big happened due to the increase in traffic.
As for calling this 'My first messageboard' this is a great improvement.
The only negative is the lack of Q&A The club style section.
Couldn't one be added, I'm sure Will would be able to give answers on an 'unofficial board'

As said above although we could be getting slightly deceived it does appear that the official board was closed almost entirely due to poor quality service. The number of times I have tried to get onto a thread of interest for it to crash was ridiculous.
Well anyhow, the new message board hopefully will bring with it a new attitude and new stimulating debate.
30 minutes to kick off, Wonder how it'll work out for us?
We'll also be making sure we link any official stories on the club website so that people are directed there and continue to provide a source of income for the club.

As soon as we scored last week the old board went down for about 20 minutes. It was really frustrating and no doubt this will be a big improvement. It`s a shame that we can`t have an official board but certainly grateful for the work put in to set this up for all of us.

Guys, honestly, there's no great conspiracy theory here for you to get your teeth into.
As mentioned by someone else above, in slightly stronger terms, it was a poor message board. Hopefully this one is more reliable.
If anyone wants to pay to host a better unofficial forum, please go ahead and do so. I'm sure people will migrate to the best place on offer - at present, this forum is that place.
Cheers, Russ

Couldn't one be added, I'm sure Will would be able to give answers on an 'unofficial board' I am sure this is something that could be looked into. Just because this is an unofficial forum doesn't mean it can't form a link with the club for answering questions etc etc. You never know we might even be able to arrange our own crack team of 'unofficial' interviewers to get the questions asked that people really want to know the answer to.

It didn't cost the club anything extra to run the message board, as we have a fixed contract with PTV to run everything on the website. Which includes the MB.

Fair doos. Also what civil replies from everyone.
Fingers crossed for a victory today and a lottery winning in the Cambridge area to get involved with the club

Thought I'd better register 'Lurid' to prevent someone speaking for me.

It also seems strange to me that the old message board went down the same day it was announced that the club was up for sale but it is also great that this message board was put up so quick

Not that strange if you think about it. That forum used to crash when heavy volumes of traffic occurred - with the news of the club going up for sale, it couldn't handle the hundreds of people trying to log-on.

A little too hasty in my eyes, there are things on there that are lost forever, which could have been saved if people had a little bit of notice. Did it really have to be terminated so quickly?
