If anywhere is to be terraced it makes sense for it to be the NRE. If it was quite large, the rumoured 3,500-4,000 size, then it would also mean less of a capacity squeeze during any Habbin rebuild. I can't see terracing on more than one side. Having a big kop behind the goal would be the obvious thing to do but if you had to pick one or the other then keeping the Habbin as terrace is more logical. Pretty much 100% of the people that go in the Habbin at present must prefer to stand (for whatever reason). We know that because if it was just a side view of the pitch they wanted they would be in the main stand. It's not that simple in the NRE where many of the those who go in their may prefer to sit but only go there because they prefer the view from behind the goal. Also, If both the Habbin and Main stand are both all-seater wouldn't one of those stands (whichever had inferior facilities) end up being empty for most games? The perfect solution to keep as many fans happy as possible would be to have a mix of terracing and seating at the NRE and then terracing on the Habbin side (it could also be a mix if you think the main stand/NRE seating would be regularly selling out long before the terraces) I don't expect it'll happen (too good to be true) but this is the only way you'll avoid upsetting loads of fans.

Not sure about the nre, but I would wager on a new Habbin being all seats.

'Pretty much 100% of the people that go in the Habbin at present must prefer to stand (for whatever reason).'
It's because we're real men.
'We know that because if it was just a side view of the pitch they wanted they would be in the main stand.'
Who wants the sun in their eyes when watching United? You wouldn't be able to see the game.....oh, hold on a minute.

I go in the Habbin because it's a cheaper way to watch from the side!

If we're going for sponsorship from the University we should go the whole hog and change the name of the club to Cambridge Academicals, play in a light blue strip and exclusively recruit gentlemen (not players) from the Corinthian ranks of undergraduates.
Rah Rah Rah, we're going to smash the oiks

Plenty of Habbinites would be happy to sit. They go in the Habbin because it is cheaper and you never have the sun in your eyes. In all likelihood a new Habbin would be more expensive than the Main Stand.

I was factoring in people who preferred to stand because it's cheaper. That's why I put 'for whatever reason'.
I'll admit I hadn't thought about the sun though.

All plans for the Habbin must have a "You can't see the corner flags" clause.
I hope that the "Impede view with rusty roof support" clause is factored for the NRE.

If games are really bad you can get a pillar in the way of each goal to spice things up in the box, is there a defender there? Who knows.

Many a jinking winger á la Ted McMinn or Veteran Clive Walker have used a pillar to turn a, seemingly woeful, up field hoof, into a tracer-guided defense spliter.

I go in the Habbin because I prefer the perspective from the side and I like standing up, so it's a combination of the two. It's also slightly cheaper than sitting obviously.
If they did away with the Habbin terracing I'm not sure where I'd go yet, I haven't really thought about it. I think I'd prefer to sit on the side than stand behind a goal but I haven't given it tons of thought yet.

What if a big money sponsor comes in and demands that we cease using "Abbey" in the stadium name? e.g. the ARM Cambridge Community Stadium (we might be heading that way anyway, regardless of sponsor) Then we take the money, thank them and move forward. You'd never stop the fans referring to it at as the Abbey, and it would be impossible for the sponsor to enforce it. It would just no longer be called the Abbey in the papers or on TV etc. No room for sentimentality.

I have concluded that the finest place to view a match from within the Abbey is in the South Habbin, lent against the counter of Wellards Tea Shop. Scoffing pies and pints of tea without having to move is the dream isn't it? If you could buy 1ft of space I would certainly pay top dollar.
Failing that, can we introduce mobile pie or hot dog sellers into the main stand like a baseball game.
