Accoring to ESPN, the club with the lowest average league attendance was not Morecambe, but Accrington with 1,478.
I thought it had to be Accrington, and I think that club deserves a lot of praise for surviving in League Two for as long as they have on their gates.

Aargh!! You are right - I had typed in the attendance at their last game as 13351 instead of 1351! All corrected now...

Thanks Nick, very interesting read as always and one of the highlights of this season has been the support, without a doubt.
They key now, is to build on it. Unless we are winning, I can see a drop coming.

Any ideas what attendance we budgeted for this season? Like Jerry I suspect that first season bounce is over - if I'd forked out for a 12 game ticket for the Man Utd game I'd be less than happy with the dross I'd been served the second half of the season

I seem to recall something in the region of 3,800 to 4,000 being discussed at the start of the season, and definitely recall Dickie getting very moody after an early game with a very poor crowd (Morecambe I think) stating that he was very disappointed with the attendance.

I'd have to check which one it was exactly, but in one of his programme notes shortly after Morecambe he directly asked why the supporters were not attending, and claimed we should be averaging 5,000 in this league. Words to that effect.

I seem to recall our average being 4,800ish before the Man U game, so perhaps the final figure isn't as inflated as some people make out. Impressive stuff.

Our average home attendance for home fans (so not including visitors) was 4,159 for the 11 matches before Newport game, and 4,782 for the twelve matches after the Man U game, an increase of 623. Our home attendances really ticked up for the Northampton and Shrewsbury games - before them we were averaging 3,675 (excluding the 1,000 Hartlepool freebies) and those two matches averaged 4,780. I have no idea why people suddenly became interested at that point...

Up hugely - we averaged 3,085 supporters (2,815 home, 270 visitors) last season.
That's up 2,023 (up 1,370 home fans and 353 visitors), so our home gate is up nearly 50% and visiting supporters have more than doubled.
We are actually (just) a top third team in League Two in terms of fans; hopefully that pulls through into the playing budget as well for next season.

Stole that stat, Nick, and the club have now shared it with the world:

Cracking stuff - I noted the "heated debate" on the infrastructure / playing budget issue after the Man Utd game. Hopefully we can use the attendance money to underwrite the sustainable development of the club.
