Most of us don't cut grass or do gardening over Xmas so green bin waste is small - Black bin could contain lots more waste like nappies etc...

When we lived in Greece, bin men and women would often strike. There, most waste is collected in large municipal bins on street corners for residents to carry their waste to (including used toilet paper etc as nothing goes down the drain). I will always remember the stench of a week-long strike during the heatwave of 2018, as bins overflowed along the pavements.

During the 'Blah Blah' conference in Glasgow there was clear evidence of a rubbish collection strike, for the world to see!

Fortunately for me in the Hunts District Council area they still do fortnightly bin collections all year round, green blue and black

Yes suspended here in East Cambs too, apparently because loads of them have left to become HGV drivers and earn a lot more money! I don't necessarily mind the suspension over a quiet period with no grass cuttings/weeds etc but they day they notified us was 2 days after what turned out to be our last green bin collection. If I'd known that I would have done some last minute weeding and leaf clearing a few days earlier, now I've got a half full bin that will sit there for a good 5 weeks. And of course there'll be no refund in the council tax either...
