Please help us spread the word! MNGIE – a rare genetic disorder (only 200 documented cases worldwide) has affected our 3 daughters Gail, Zillah and Verity. Thankfully it has missed our son Owen. There is currently no treatment and no cure. Gail died of pneumonia this time last year – we last stood with her in the Habbin at those Covid restricted games in December 2020. How she would have revelled in promotion! Then this January, Verity contracted pneumonia. Her husband was already working behind the scenes, contacting medics, researchers and an enzyme manufacturing company in order to set up a trial treatment for Verity and Zillah based at St. George's Hospital, London. They have been given the go-ahead. But no funding. So he needs to raise £500,000……. He explains it all clearly on a JustGiving page he has set up, hoping to fund this treatment and people have responded well – we are very grateful to each and every one. However, it is such a huge amount that we really need all the help we can get. If you can't donate, could you possibly pass the link on to others please? For anyone, like us, who uses real money and would like to donate, we still stand at the front of the Habbin and will pass any donations on to them. Could I just mention that the references to JustGiving charges in the text is hugely off-putting, and I think also incorrect. These are (mainly) credit card charges, which most people would already know about if they gave it any thought. I am not sure what these references are trying to achieve.

I notice that on NEWS NOW's Cambridge United page this is the latest and most read story. Evidently it's a big story in the Cambridge Independent. Perhaps someone with technical ability could add a link here.

Thanks imp566 for the link. Being Rare Diseases Day,you can read the story on the front page and the whole of page 3 in today's Cambridge News. Unfortunately they fail to say how you can give towards this project. If you feel led to give then google the following: josh grainger just giving. THANKS.

A pupil at Verity's school has written to the owner or CEO of Ipswich Town asking them to do something about his teacher's plight. This has resulted in Verity, her husband Josh and son Noah being invited to experience hospitality at tomorrow's match against Cambridge United. If you go to the match do look out for some way of giving. It may be in the programme or on the scoreboard - I have no idea but do look out. The pupil and his Mum and Dad will also be given a day out in hospitality. The pupil supports Town.
