Or similar?
I am signed up for one in Youghal in Cork six months from now (well, the six-month point was the weekend just gone, so 5.9 months or so). Running is okay but I haven't been on the bike for a number of months, or swim, and now have two children under three. I signed up for the 2019 event, deferred then the following two years were postponed so I can't back out now. Anyone have any advice or experience?

I like Youghal, though I know it's rough enough in places, a nice parkrun crowd there.

It does have potential as a town. Luckily I am both antisocial and competitive so parkrun is useful training.

I haven't done one but my advice would be to do some cycling and swimming beforehand.
Also, maybe brush up on your running.

I've done the Ironman 70.3.
I would say you need to make sure your training really focuses on the swim and bike- possibly more so than the running. You also need to do some brick training 'cycle and then run.' You need to replicate running with 'jelly' legs.
Learn proper open water swimming techniques and get regular open water practice. Completely different to the swimming pool.
Be prepared for your body to be in constant pain so invest in a sports therapist.....
