Even after all the redaction of names and events etc, absolute incompetence of the British government is revealed in the Intelligence report. Not even bothered to investigate Russian spying and influence in UK affairs. Have to wonder what side the Conservative government is on! Welcoming oligarchs with open arms building links that allowed them to money launder and buy influence in the highest echelons of power including political interests and donations on behalf of the Russian state. So tangled that Russian presence is the new normal and priority must now be given to addressing any hostile activity as it is uncovered. The unwillingness of the GCHQ, secret service and Mi5 to engage in counter intelligence activity without government backing and the recommendation of changes to the Official Secrets Act to make it illegal to be foreign agent in the UK. The report said the only two intelligence successes were the Skripal affair and the foiled chemical weapons hack and pointed out that the Russians learn from their errors becoming more difficult to protect from their hostile acts. Essentially the report is saying we need effective government leadership and more powers for the secret services to fight the Russians. The Russians keep taking a pop at us and the government continues to do sod all other than get increasingly chummy with oligarchs who are foreign agents working for the Kremlin. The report must have given the Russians a good laugh. Bumping this in the context of the invasion. Can we really trust the PM to sanction Russian oligarchs in a thorough way when Kremlin gold bankrolls the Tory party to the tune of millions. It's not enough to simply block 200 Russians holding gold visas. Need to hit their associates and families too and freeze all assets including Conservative party funds coming from these Russian state proxies. Should have hit them hard when they attacked the UK with chemical weapons in the Skripal Affair but if not then, surely the time to act is now. We can't fight the feckers militarily without starting WWIII but we can hurt them in other ways. Putin just sees the West as weak and the UK in particular as full of bluster and easily played.

Exactly this. Wonder if Johnson has offered to pay back the millions that have been paid into Tory party coffers by Russian millionaires. No? Thought not.

This is a time when all political parties should be pulling together to try and combat this, not a time to have a pop at each other . This situation is far too serious for that

Unfortunately Russia is under the control of the ultra right (fascists / nazis). The Ukrainian AZOV battalion will sort those facist out. Most countries have their own far right idiots. The difference is that they form the government in Russia and have nuclear weapons. The existence of something like the AZOV battalion is unfortunate as it gives Putin a chance to label all Ukranians as nazis. Now, I think it is undeniable that Putin is a fascist - but he doesn't realise he is one. He thinks he's just being patriotic. I actually lived in Russia under Putin for 10 years by the way. The Russians are so proud of having defeated the fascists in WW2 - and now they have become fascists themselves (at least their rulers have). But they don't realise that's what they have become. The government of Ukraine is democratically elected and not neo-nazi.

So remind me, who was the PM when Abramovich took over Chelsea?
Tony Blaire by any chance.
