Lots of potential by the looks of things and ready made to slot in when we, sort of inevitably, lose Okedina or Jones to a sale this season or when their contracts expire next summer. Anyone else feel like Taylor has been quietly moved to fourth choice? It’s the right move for the club to look to youth and the future but I do feel for him a bit on how his league one adventure has panned out.

Looks an excellent signing on paper. The fight for the centre-back berths is quite an intriguing one. The one position Bonner seems to like rotating is centreback quite unconventionally. Fluid Bonzball. Jones also seems fairly injury-prone.

Very happy with that signing, and as others have said I think (barring any sales) that will wrap up our transfer business for the Summer.
So panic over and we have a full squad with a couple of weeks before the season is due to start. Top work by Bonner and the recruitment team again.

Looking at the defence purely as it is at the moment, you'd say Jones is first-choice, & Okedina has the other shirt for the time being but that can change pretty quickly. I'd expect Rossi to be challenging very strongly for that. I wouldn't count Taylor out yet though. He's defied plenty of people's expectations before & CB is a position where experience matters a lot, especially in an otherwise fairly callow field.

Very concerning how we didn't have everyone signed by the third week of June frankly.

Welcome Zeno! Surely the best ‘name’ we’ve ever signed. Really excited about this one, looks bang in line with our transfer strategy. I'd say Zema Abbey is the best name we've had. Exotic first name, one of the finest grounds in the football league as his surname.

Now he’s signed will the message board go back to concentrating on trying to sell our best players?
Edit- sale of Okedina and / or Jones already mentioned!

I haven't looked back through the thread because it's too warm, but the reaction on the Bournemouth twitter is very positive. Well for us anyway, they're gutted.

The mathematician who invented the paradox of movement; the Norwegian founder of social realist theatre; & the bloke who played up-front for Italy?
Nominative supersexy.

6 foot 4. Hopefully some towering headers from corners. Really excited about this signing, especially when persuaded to leave a higher club when under contract. Think his chant/songwill be first name based and pretty straight forward. ZENOOO ZENOOO ZENOOO To the tune of YELLOOOWS YELLOOOWS YELLOOOWS

Goals from centre-backs have been sorely, sorely lacking for a while. Think Masterson was our only scorer last season, & that was in the FA Cup. Also think I'm right in saying Darling was the last centre-back to score more than 1 goal in a season, and that was in 19/20 when he got... 2.
We haven't had a semi-regular CB scorer since Legge.

If he's as promising as the Bournemouth fans suggest, hopefully he'll put real proper pressure on Jones and Okedina to up their games further. Greg is the strength in depth. Proper competition for places in all positions across the squad. Players really pushing for places is ideal.

I'm just delighted to have written an EG post before he even conceived it. The battle for the two centre back berths looks fascinating.
