Afternoon all, I’m a Cambridge-based Ipswich fan making my first trip to the Abbey tonight (it’s a shame it’s the pizza cup but away tickets for league fixtures are a little hard to acquire)
Anyway, I was planning to cycle down to the ground and was wondering if there was any reasonably safe bike parking nearby that people use on matchdays?
Cheers!

As above, it won’t be busy and so the racks at the front will be fine - I’ve used them before and had no problems.
I don’t know which stands are open tonight but there are also some racks near the North Habbin exit too.

...there are also some racks near the North Habbin exit too. Where are those? When I go in the Habbin, I tie my bike up on the black railings by the cattle grid from/to the new subway under Newmarket Road - makes for a much quicker exit, but there's not a lot of space there if more people cotton on to the idea. I've not seen any proper racks on that side of the ground.

If you go out the exit of the North Habbin which is almost in line with the penalty box and then turn left, there are some bike racks up by where the gate/fence is near to the turnstiles where you actually enter. Hope that makes sense.

There are bike racks directly behind the habbin just up from the exit towards the water container

There are bike racks directly behind the habbin just up from the exit towards the water container Ah, so that's the way you can go out but not in, a bit closer to Newmarket Road than the Habbin North entrance? That would probably not achieve my aim of avoiding the hordes walking towards Newmarket Road as I would have to go against the flow for a short distance - I'll stick to the railings. I find it actually makes sense to tie my bike up a short distance from the ground as there's no chance of safely riding the first bit straight after the game anyway, so I don't even try to park at the stands at the front of the ground.

Yeah, they aren't really worth using if you're not coming out of the Habbin.

I am coming out of the Habbin, but I need to go north via the underpass beneath Newmarket Road - so my bike parking railings are directly opposite the main Habbin North entrance, whereas if the Habbin bike parking is where I think it is, I would have to double back against the flow of the crowd in order to reach the underpass. But thanks for the help anyway, useful to know it's there if the railings are full!
