Excellent news and another happy signing from the clubs perspective. Doubt he'll start tomorrow but next Saturday he should be pushing for.

V good signing, and a leader by all accounts.

Excellent piece of business. Genuinely excited about Ryan signing, exactly the type of experience and mentality we need in the squad.
I think the deal to the end of the season will clearly work well for both parties - if this works out then hopefully a longer term contract to follow.

Excellent signing on paper.
I would put him straight in tomorrow instead of Taylor but Bonner's comments read like he will need a couple of weeks to get up to speed. Surely he cant be any more liability than what Taylor has been?

From his interview sounds like he's expecting to play a decent amount - and no one else was willing to move as quickly as we were. All pretty positive although the BONNER MINDGAMES make me think we wouldn't have announced it if he was going to start tomorrow to catch the opposition UNAWARES

Excellent signing, would start him tomorrow I agree, if he's not actually fit enough to play 60 mins (preferably 90) as a 32 yr old who has played at pl level then why would anyone want him even at cheap?

I'd play him tomorrow. Taylor and Okedina did ok against Derby but clearly struggled in every aspect against Wednesday. Taylor seems set to be the dropout, and probably would be my choice to make way, but it could just as easily be Jubril who has looked hesitant, nervous and a little too easily bullied at times, for me.
Anyway, some number crunching while at Swansea :
I never quite know what to read into stuff like this, if anything, but it's quite interesting all the same.

I wonder if he may be on the bench tomorrow given our numbers. He has been training with Grimsby for a while according to social media and someone mentioned it above.

I don't quite understand why he might have been training at Grimsby but not been signed at least on non contract terms so he could play. Has he been recovering from a long term injury? If not why he he not been playing for someone for the first half of the season?

If he can walk then he absolutely has to start tomorrow. I assume Bristol Rovers will have watched the game in Sheffield!

If not why he he not been playing for someone for the first half of the season? He started his professional career at Grimsby and has personal links to the area. So he knows the club well. Paul Hurst explained the situation in an interview, Bennett wanted to keep fit but he didn't want to just stay in a gym so the club let him train with them. Reason he didn't sign permanently was because Bennett was still looking for Championship or League 1 clubs to sign for. Grimsby also had plenty of defenders so didn't really have space in the squad. Free agents training with clubs happens all the time. Players do it to stay fit and smaller clubs let them because it keeps a potential signing happy. Also good to have experience around even if it's just in training.

Well I suppose that reflects well on Cambridge that he has chosen to sign for us now, and good that he has backed himself to hold out until he had the opportunity to sign for such a brilliant football club in the end. Let's hope he plays like his experience suggests he should be capable of and loves playing for Cambridge so much that he signs a longer term deal at the end of the season.

Wasnt injured it seems.

Not sure you're allowed to play non-contract and I assume he didn't want to sign and limit his options in case a better offer came along before January.

He says in the club's video that he's trained on his own today. I took that to mean that the group that worked together were the assumed eleven, and he wouldn't have been away from the group if he was going to start tomorrow.
