If this is true then this is a big signing for next season.

I wasn't expecting him to sign until last week when it looked like him in the background of that training photo so I guess it's be no shock if he did.
He and Morro looked like a good pairing last season. Not much pace but the their positioning and reading of the game makes up for that. Stevens was described as quick off his line so that should help cover up an exposure to pace.
I suspect that's us done for defence. I'd like cover for Lennett at right back, but I suspect that'll be Jubril as it was last season.

It's a good signing but wouldn't describe it as exactly a transformative one. Means our defence is probably about the same strength as it was towards the end of last season, if you consider cover/experience-wise we've swapped Williams for Andrew. Which I think makes it good enough to compete at about the level we need to.
Only major concern about it as it stands is we're also relying on 2 young right-backs, 1 of whom has never looked entirely comfortable there as a senior pro & who's also coming off the back of a very difficult season.

Great signing if confirmed in the week. Really confident about our defence this season with him, Morrison as first choice and Rossi getting back to fitness. Interesting to see how long the deal is for. Danny Andrew is same age and only got 1 year. Morrison was for 18months? Maybe he wanted a 2 year deal which might mean it would be worthwhile to relocate his family down to this area.

He's obviously had other offers but likes who we've signed and who we will sign and he's a guaranteed starter in League 1. He clearly likes it here, even though he doesn't show it. Oh, and he's got a decent deal which is bottom line. Good work by CUFC.

Really happy with this, he looked a class above last season. Having his experience will help develop the younger cbs and Liam Bennett too. With a younger keeper coming in having two very experienced centre half’s in front could be crucial.

We've also lost Jones.. I think that makes us weaker then the end of last season albeit we'll be ok to get by. Really excited to see some more attacking and midfield options now!

Aye, but he was injured for the final run-in, and Andrew's a good left-sided CB replacement in that sense. Think it's probably about par really, although Jones's particular skills haven't been replaced (and are hard to anyway).

I liked the look of Ibsen Rossi before he got injured. He looked like he has potential to be a ball playing CB like Jones. He’s just got to stay fit when called upon.

It wasn't the ball-playing part of Jones's game that set him apart – it was the ball-carrying, and I don't think that's particularly in Ibsen Rossi's wheelhouse.
As I say, it's a tough skill to replace as I can't think of many CBs I've seen in the lower leagues as good on the ball and taking people on as Jones. It's not something we necessarily need to recreate either, but it did give us an extra attacking dimension last season that we'll need to compensate for.

No we don’t need to recreate it if we have a CM who drops deep to pick up the ball (like Boateng or Mcgrandles). We didn’t have that until January so Jones was playing that role, especially when we went to a back three.
Ibsen Rossi looked like he could certainly play and could become a Jones like CB but like I say he needs to stay fit and get into the team first. I assume we’ve seen that potential and that’s why he was given a 3 year deal
We’ve got to get a ball playing CM through the door. That’s as important as a 20 goal striker.

Just had a quick look at the New Fishy forum and Peter O'Rourke is being quoted as confirming that Ryan Bennett has signed a new deal with us. I have no idea who Peter O'Rourke is but a) it appears he's right about everything and b) it definitely rings true to me (I'm being as objective as I can).
EDIT: Apologies imp, this post really should be in the 'Transfer Rumours' thread
