This season is entering banter era territory. We even posted pictures of the roof because it clearly looks like convenient postponement. What a time to be a United fan.

Well I wasn't expecting that. Not a safety officer so I don't know the ins and outs of it but does that small hole really require a whole match suspension?
Who appoints the Local Advisory Board?

I asked this last month. Can anyone remember the last time we had a home game postponed due to the weather (technically this is a safety issue but it’s weather linked). I can’t remember it happening for a long time.

True, though I'm sure Morecambe fans would argue something could be done to cover it or keep it down? Must be frustrating for them but not much we could do I suppose if we are being advised to postpone it.

It’s the people in the stand. Suspect if it was a part of the stadium they could easily restrict access to it might have been different but that’s right by where the most amount of people will be concentrated so no chance.

Brilliant news - am glad the work the club did to loosen things has worked!
Seriously, excellent! Morecambe are on a good run and confident. We are not.
We have a long injury list and this gives us time to sign players and get players back. Hopefully this will be a few weeks away so New Mid and Jones at least can return, possible Fej too!

I've started 2 match day threads this season: Fleetwood (A) and Morecambe (H). Not sure what this says about United -or indeed me- but I'm frothing with excitement at the thought of the end of season analysis.

How strange, I was sitting at my desk yesterday looking at the wind blowing and wondering why more destruction isn’t caused by strong winds, thinking about my house and then I thought that if Cambridges ageing main stand can cope with these winds, then my house is probably not at much risk. Now this and I am looking at my roof tiles and wondering again. I can remember a game at the Abbey being postponed before, on the morning of the match for a similar reason, must have been around 15-20 years ago. Either way I’m quite happy with the postponement as it will give us more time to get players back, and I get nervous looking at the table when the team below have games in hand and a win in either of those will drop us into a relegation place. Not sure if the facts bear it out but I think there is more of a realisation of impending relegation in the last month rather than with 4 months to go so those with games in hand with a month to go are more likely to pick up a higher points average.

This isn’t the first time that main stand roof damage has caused a problem. In our Conference years we played York in front of an empty main stand due to panels having been blown off on the night before, however all main stand ticket holders were moved to the South Stand for the day and away fans given the end bit of the Habbin. Trouble now is that we have massively larger gates meaning that option is out, and I think tomorrow was one of the £1 kids games so a decent crowd would have been expected.
I was at that York game pin the South Stand, my first visit to it, and only once since during Covid.
Really convenient timing however. Another gameless week to help the injuries and allow for a signing or two!

If Morecambe do end up going down this season they might end up hating us as much as we hate Swindon... Yes! I was thinking the same thing. This is like Swindon in reverse for us. A nice bit of luck for us! Something we're in need of this season.

Shouldn't we have waited until about 1pm tomorrow before announcing the postponement?

Outstanding news is this the slice of luck we needed, just when we needed it most. flip you Morecambe this is a relegation dogfight we are in and we will take any help we can get.
