Haha. It’s just a badge. Good effort. Better than before. Def better than current. Appreciate the consultation but club can pick what they think is best. Thank you

No.1 - Makes my eyes hurt if I look at it for too long No.2 - Looks like someone left the chip pan on the stove in the vestry No.3 - Is beyond words other than a throwback to an older version (probably left in to pacify a few older fans)
They've made their mind up & we will have to move on as it will obviously be No. 1 that gets chosen as the other 2 have been purposely made so bad

Hmmm. All better than the initial effort a while back, but still uninspiring overall. Opt 1 I think looks best in isolation, but when superimposed onto a kit, it looks more like a collection of random squiggles or an advertisement for The UFC. Opt 2 is just a bit odd, upside down shield with stained glass windows inside, meh. Opt 3 is better than the original book and ball badge, but still naff. I’d imagine opt 1 will be where we end up and that’s fine, I suppose. I’ve not had much in the way of strong feelings about this all along.

I guess the real question we need to be asking is, which of those three badges will look best on us when we're back in League 2? Because this summer we're putting more effort into badges than we are signing players.

One glaring omission, that some have pointed out, is the lack of the club motto. Given Badge No1 is circular and doesn't really identify Cambridge United from other CUFCs, why not add 'United in Endeavour' in a semi circle around the bottom half.
If I had graphic design software, I would try and mock it up, but that's for another person to try!

If I had graphic design software, I would try and mock it up, but that's for another person to try! The video shows UIE, '1912' and Marvin as 'identities' to work alongside the chosen crest - it is all quite cleverly done and I really don't understand branding but even I get it! Have a look at the video, it makes it all make more sense.

But should UIE and 1912 work "alongside" the crest? Why not "within" the crest?
It gets lost if that stuff is only on the miscellaneous marketing stuff elsewhere and not in the badge itself.
The video tries to justify having a variety of sub-identities but what about having one strong identity that doesn't need propping up with an array of other little logos dotted about the place?

Because too many words and emblems gets messy (and not easy to transfer across communication channels) is, I think, the answer.
