How on earth does the badge attract more fans. Normally it’s because of it being a local club or their dad supports them. Never heard of anyone supporting a club because of the badge. Our current badge makes us look dated and uncool to the youngsters (opinion, supported by some fieldwork). It may be, and some may consider it uncool, but wether that is enough to stop someone from attending a match is something different again.

Yeah, no one at the club is trying to say that x amount of investment or sponsorship has fallen through because of the existing crest, or that a new one will bring in any kind of revenue that can be forecasted. What they are saying, is that they have reason to believe more modern, refreshed branding will make the club more appealing to potential sponsors and so on.
Personally I don’t rate the new one over the existing one particularly, or vice versa. As I commented a while back, a logo just isn’t something that matters that much to me.

That was a great kit TBF. Will always remind me of Newcastle too. Happy days. In fairness, even making a cup of tea reminds me of beating Newcastle. And thank you for reminding me just now of beating Newcastle.

So the main point of agreement between those who want the current badge to remain and those who support a change is that the new design is not very good?

The new badge does not make my heart sing *yet* because I have no emotional connection to it *yet*.
Had it been introduced 30+ years ago to replace the book and ball, and was now being replaced, there would be an equal amount of unhappiness, I'm sure of that.
Objectively it is better and, crucially, more versatile than the big CU. From a design and marketing point of view all I hear is good things about it.
It's changed. It is change. We're not going to feel any love for it now like we do about all the moments in our lives that the big CU represents. That's inevitable. No new badge could ever match those feelings. Impossible! No new badge would ever be good enough at first sight, and for a while.
I'm going to embrace it. I'll be changing my car stickers as soon as they're available, and I've made my icon on here look like Mike Wazowski! (I do really like the bridge/circle surround...) But the big CU isn't going away. My woolly hats, old shirts, mugs, signed shirt on the wall - they'll be shouting arse at me in Portuguese until the end of time.
All we need is to beat RSA Newcastle, win at Wembley, avoid relegation on the last day of the season, get promoted, cheer on our team through thick and thin, all behind that new badge, and before too long we'll be as emotionally attached to the bridge/circle as we are to the big CU.
I've never felt more positive about the future of my football club, and so I'm quite prepared to wait a while to feel emotional about a new graphic.

Venn diagram of united fans who hate Cambridge coz it's full of students and bicycles, are never coming to united again coz you can't pay cash on the gate, and will never buy any merchandise again because of the new badge.

The current badge just screams the anti-word "Soccer", that for me is a good enough reason to replace it with pretty much anything as an improvement.

At least they have somethig to show for it. The showing Brophy thing would be wasting their time and his. Reminds me I need to shop for a new toilet seat myself. Do you think the club shop do one? I think they've a surplus since the Manchester United game. Please don't make me imagine a half and half seat.
