Whoever did the badge design could have spent that time showing Brophy how to score. The club's got its priorities all messed up. Hate to think how much time Garry Monk has been spending working on that presentation with Dion instead of doing free kick drills. It's a disk race. At least they have somethig to show for it. The showing Brophy thing would be wasting their time and his. Reminds me I need to shop for a new toilet seat myself. Do you think the club shop do one? I think they've a surplus since the Manchester United game.

You do all know that footballers train for a few hours each day, and have the rest of that time generally free for other stuff, right?
The suggestion that the club can only concentrate on one thing at a time is both daft and ignores the commercial reality that a professional football club needs to generate income to survive and prosper. Training and income generation are not mutually exclusive things - you can and do need both.

I actually like the fact that it predates the new club crest as it will help future generations identify which era the bar was made in. My wife is proud to have it in our dining area!

Crikey, laker! Surely it is obvious that the ground redevelopment is a) progressing and b) is soooooo much more difficult and slow because of all of the elements that are beyond the direct control of CUFC. I would hope the people at the club are competent enough to work on different projects at the same time. The crest thing is relatively simple. The trickiest part - being mindful of those that hate it - has imho been handled with sensitivity and emotional intelligence. I don’t hate it. I don’t think it’s better than the current badge but I don’t hate it. I do hate that the club have not really told us why the existing badge is so bad or whether we could even have a say on it staying. And I disagree therefore with your final sentence entirely!

In fairness, not asking the fans was probably the smartest part of the badge redesign. Don't ask the question if you think you might lose.

However it's not honest and open like some people are claiming, nor how we as a community club, who a couple months ago, patted ourselves on the back for fan engagement should act.

"At the last meeting we sounded out thoughts on looking at the Club badge over the summer and whether it could be adapted or modernised, as this is consistent feedback we have received from potential sponsors in recent times." From Paul Barry, in the first messaging about this saga: www.cambridgeunited.com/news/2023/may/paul-barry-cambridge-united-end-of-season-message-sky-bet-league-one-efl-english-football-league-tuesday-9th-may-2023"We believe that modernising our crest and identity is important to our growth and development at a time of ever greater sporting and and financial competition."From the CEO at www.cambridgeunited.com/crestThere is also the stuff about a new crest being able to represent the club and the city better which the secondary identities definitely do. Sorry, I know this is very well trodden ground, but you did ask! I do really like all of the secondary identity stuff and think they will all work really well in merchandise and marketing. I can't think of any other club that has a suite of emblems like we now do? For me, it's the best thing to come out of this process!

Paul Barry said the change would only happen if there is a full consultation and broad consent. My personal thoughts are that a full consultation did not happen and thus it can't be evidenced that there is broad consent. Paul Barry had a duty of candour to say we are changing the badge whatever; like it or lump it!

As far as I recall he has been careful with his wording, don't they call it constructive ambiguity?

So the toilet seat with ass written on it creates the wrong impression in Portugal and Brasil? I'm just going to have to burn the new design into a wooden seat and re-varnish.
