"Reading between the lines then, what Mark wanted differently was someone that can coach some of the prettier, more technical bits?"
Reading between the lines and then playing between them, eh?
Betsy is a play out from the back type manager I think so it does suggest we're going to alter our way of playing a little. Bonner mentioned wanting to control the midfield a bit more at the season end so it all makes sense.

Apparently tried to get Tim Akinola in on loan from Arsenal while at Creepy last season. My money is on him rocking up here, although he's being heavily linked with our arch rivals Oxford.

Talks very well, can see him fitting in with Bon's Ethos.
Also good to see a young black coach getting a chance, again, fits with our inclusive ethos.

Interesting that Bonner isn’t really a fan of loans though.
Might be the odd pick up from lads that have been released from senior clubs & look to develop them?

Yep, certainly an Impressive Pedigree including the young England and Arsenal sides.....wonder if he saw our youngster`s wonderful performance at the Emirates a few months back ? Surely impressed at what we do if he did, anyway welcome to the Mighty U`s Kevin !

With his experience coaching elite youths, maybe brought in also to bring on the likes of Hoddle, Yearn and the super talented Mc Connell.

The main criticisms aimed at him seem to be, his inability to motivate older players and ineffective attacking play.
I'd hope Bonner's skillset would negate the first point but the latter does concern me somewhat given our struggles mid season.
Bonnerball is very pragmatic and it'll be interesting to see whether a more possession based coach improves the style of play or it clashes and we lose what we've found fairly effective under Bondock.

Arsenal and fulham do from what I've seen. Crawley...not so much.

I really hope MB has got this one right. it seemed a bit odd to me that GW was dispensed with without having someone lined up to take his place, and then appoint someone older than him and with less experience than him. KBs coaching career is at best patchy. Has had some success working with elite junior players, but working with the best that has to be a minimum. But working with the pros Crawley 2 months and Wigan 7 games is alarming. Admittedly both clubs are basket cases, but both picked up after he left. Also in the interview he came across as a nice guy, but with someone with a Degree in sports Writing and Broadcasting I would have expected something a bit more inspiring.
