I'll respectfully disagree with that last statement - not for me. I want to stand, but I won't go behind the goal. A great view when the action is at that end, absolutely appalling when its at the other end. Give me a spot about half way between penalty area and half way and I'm happy, as are around 1500 people who choose the Habbin every game. It can't be beyond the wit of a designer to offer two tiers, standing below hospitality, seats above. As I said previously, modelled on Wycombe would do fore me, but with standing (or 'safe standing') below Have a seat old boy 😜 That day will come - but I'd like it to be my decision!

You could argue that the stadium needs some empty capacity to allow unallocated seating. That is a weird rule but it makes building over 10,000 reasonable to the council.
The whole 3,000 standing moved from the Habbin to the NRE keeps that figure constant. No real change. The central area between penalty boxes of the New Habbin™ is going to be seating. Two tier and boxes preferably. A Habbin stand in the corner by the NRE might happen later. Safe standing? The Rainbow Stand™ could happen later. Safe standing.
The increase in capacity comes from the extra seats and boxes in the New Habbin™ up to about 11,111. Let the council know that the capacity above 10,000 will only be used on rare big cup fixture occasions. Otherwise it will merely allow unallocated seating. Honest local gov.
Since Park and Ride should be solving any congestion anyway I think they should be looking there rather than a limit on a local business income. Circumstance have changed since that limit was put out there. Congestion charging and extra bus provision will change the proportions of car users entering the city for shopping and for match attendance. Not much bulk to the three points a fan takes back to the car, while a planet destroying consumer has a bootload of tat to transport.

Rip out the bench seating at the front of the Main Stand and make it standing paddock. Job jobbed.

People need to remember that the Abbey, regardless of how big we build it, will have a capacity limit for matchdays set by the council that takes into account congestion and parking issues. Building capacity above that figure is very expensive if you're never going to use it (around £3-4,000 per person I think) When I was on the Board the most recent discussion was that any redeveloped ground would not be given a council capacity limit above 10,000. Interesting points which i'm sure the club will have had informal conversations with the council about before they release the proposals. Ideally capacity can be big enough to allow us to grow but scaled sensibly. I guess the first priority is to get supporters club on board, then we still need to engage with other stakeholders - supporters, council, local community and other interested bodies to make sure development is right. Definitely trust those involved to move us closer to redevelopment. It feels different this time.

Most of the potential stand designs suggested are on the mental side, have you ever been to the stadium? The plot is triangularish and narrow af at north end.
A quick google maps measure shows even if you shift the pitch right up to the South stand, you have about 45ft to play with, Gills stand 70ft, Wycombe 82ft etc etc
There is one stand in uk that has exact same problem and tapers to almost perfect match of 43 ft, and that chaps, is the one at Hollywood fc, so that is your ballpark, and then the decision to be symmetrical or not. There is a lot of space at the south end so they could do something quite funky with that irregular shaped space.

There is far more room at the South end of the Habbin,so it would be good to have a design to accommodate more away fans at that end of the ground for bigger away followings.

We have our next meeting with the Club on Thursday evening (7th September), so please feel free to post any questions you'd like us to ask... Did the meeting happen and are there any updates to share?

Rip out the bench seating at the front of the Main Stand and make it standing paddock. Job jobbed. No thanks, it took me years to find a seat I could actually fit into without constant knees and elbows in the back etc. I would stand but I don't like the habbin and can't put up with nre view these days

What needs to happen is that those who are advocating for change to the Habbin need to accept that it will diminish the match experience for some. If this is not ackowledged then the same arguments will go round in circles. Also, classed an old Codger at 40! That hurts...

Well, not unless games kickoff at sunrise. Sun sets in the west, the direction you face sitting in the Main Stand. Sun in eyes is 100% a factor at certain times of the season.

But not if you’re in the Habbin.
Edit: got it. Apologies for not reading your whole post.
