Not to be pessimistic but is anyone else worried with the amount of 1 year contracts?

'When we get him up to speed' not match fit then. More firepower much needed.

Not to be pessimistic but is anyone else worried with the amount of 1 year contracts? With the quality of player we've brought in, I doubt any of them would be willing to play in League 2 should the worst happen this year. All that should matter for now is this squad getting the 50 points + we need to stay in the League for the following year.

I'm not worried about the length of contracts, as long as they do a job for the season they're here. If I had any concerns it would be that several of our signings have been players in their 30s on their way down with little to prove. On the flip side though, Ahadme aside, all signings have been solid players with vast amounts of experience. If nothing else, I don't think we're going to be overwhelmed too often. We also have a lot of options for changing things up if needed

Add to the fact a number of these new signings won't be on insignificant wages - we may not be willing to pay them what they're earning now should we drop down to League 2. One year protects both parties.

We certainly don't want to find ourselves in a position of having to rebuild the squad every summer, but we also don't know what might have been spoken about or indicated prior to signing – we've already seen Okenabirhie, Bennett & Thomas arrive on short-term deals and end up staying longer, for instance. As I said elsewhere, getting someone through the door is always hardest the first time. Much easier to sell a "project" (interesting that Kachunga used that word) once you've seen it from the inside.

He's a winger-forward type. Another for the full international ranks. Underwhelming Not sure underwhelming is entirely fair. Kachunga seems to have played a lot of football, despite not scoring many goal, so it suggests his role is probably much less of a striker and more of an attacking player, very much like Knibbs. He's clearly had a good career looking at over 400 appearances for a range of big clubs, and His Majesty at Bolton clearly loved him enough to give him 50 appearances in a play-off side last season. It suggests Elias contributes, even if it isn't necessarily by putting the ball in the net. Not sure if he's chalked up many assists but I guess one of those on here may well know that. Looks a reasonable acqusition to me, and if I am not wrong our first German born player too?

1 league assist last season (4 in all comps).

Knibbs replacement then it sounds like - good physical/workrate stats rather than goals and assists. Sounds like a Bonner player certainly.

Decent on the wing not a striker lacks quality in front of goal if he has been brought in as a striker then we will struggle to score.

Be surprised if he's been brought in primarily as a striker. He'll be third (possibly even fourth-) choice there behind Ahadme, Okenabirhie & maybe even Kaikai (depending on the team set-up/opposition). I expect he'll mainly be competition for the right-wing.

Anyhow: Willkommen im Fußballverein Elias! (Forgive me, I'm half Austrian)

“Once we get him up to speed”
Sounds like it will take a few weeks for him to be 1st XI ready but sounds like a good experienced pro at this level and a key part of a decent Bolton team last season. Replacement for the Knibbs role so hopefully there will be a replacement for Smith lined up soon. Maybe even a double whammy for this week before kick off.
Welcome to the Abbey and Cambridge Elias.
