Speaking as someone who makes their living selling beer and drinks a bit too much of it, I don’t especially rate Brewboard if I’m honest. They’re perfectly decent, but if we’re talking local craft beer producers, Wylde Skye in Linton are streets ahead. Even at that they're nothing special! I love this part of the country but I would make a strong case for this being the worst part of England for breweries.

That would be a fair case, I do rate Wylde Skye very highly, but first and foremost I’m a cask ale man and they are keg only. The exceptionally hard water around here doesn’t help and makes it a very difficult place to brew a decent pint.

I'm nearly exclusively cask these days, so that's definitely a part of my criticism of Wylde Skye. I think any English brewery should be making some decent cask, but I'm only one or two winters away from buying Birkenstocks! They are probably the best in the area, granted. I'm back working in a pub and want to get some Brewboard and/or Wylde Skye on semi-regularly to satisfy the lack of local beer available. I'm not sure I buy the water excuse, it's fairly easy to Burtonize water these days. I think it's more a lack of industrial history and tradition. The best areas for breweries are where there is more industrial heritage and there were thirsty workers in bigger groups. I think that still holds true!

I was getting Wylde Sky deliveries in lockdown as well. They sell it in my local. Pretty much like all their beers but by god they give a hangover. Not sure what it is but 2 pints and that’s me rough the next morning.

It might be my age but I also only drink cask & will walk out of any pub if there are no selections available. I just don’t get some of these craft beers especially the American style IPA. I know people in here call the Spoons network of pubs but I’ve had many a decent range of ales in them at prices more often than not well below £3 a pint

New lager is foul. Back onto Amstel. If you can drink that Amstel your taste buds are broken.

New lager is foul. Back onto Amstel. I think you mean, I don't like the sponsor's lager offering so I will carry on drinking the (insert adjective here) generic Northamptonshire lager.

Tried both offerings, thought both were decent. Nothing special but not bad

UK Amstel is foul but it's a slightly different story on the continent. In Greece, I used to have it as my fourth choice beer to buy from street side kiosks, so that's cool.

I have a Heineken Blade draught machine at home for which Amstel Kegs are an option. It is invariably better than pub Amstel but not quite to the standard of the original real Dutch version. I worked on and off in Amsterdam for more than 10 years so became quite accustomed to it!

Wankery at home for bad beer is absolutely outrageous!
