N.B. we've already had a huge discussion about whether a brewer is suitable as a shirt sponsor and it's happening so let's not go through it all again?
I'm quite excited to see a local brewery get involved with the club and will definitely be having a can/pint tomorrow. Does anyone know if there will be draught available in any bars? I see they have their mobile van behind the habbin. Apparently the function space at the brewery is very good and they are actually fans so this could be a good relationship.

I will be getting there early and giving the lager a right good seeing to. Just to make sure all in order. I think of it as charitable work, really.

I think I saw they have two draught offerings in each of the fan zones. I might partake in their fizzy lager offering, simply to show willing….

They've got a beer called Bambino, it's advertised as 5.1% but it's much much more lethal than that. I had a fair few when we lost to Stevenage 1-0 to "bottle" promotion by another week or two. Thank Christ because I could barely stand up, let alone get to the Abbey and celebrate into the night. 10/10 would drink again, hope the NRE bar has it

Being a craft beer bore I don't particularly rate the Pale but each to their own, on the contrary I don't usually like a lager but there's is a decent one.

During lockdown the brewery did take away 4 pint containers. I used to go there on a Saturday as my one hour "essential" trip out.
I will forever remember those Saturday afternoons of 4 pints of Bambino whilst watching Wes and Mullin destroy L2 on ifollow.
Definitely the best beer i have ever drunk....and I've drunk a lot!

Speaking as someone who makes their living selling beer and drinks a bit too much of it, I don’t especially rate Brewboard if I’m honest. They’re perfectly decent, but if we’re talking local craft beer producers, Wylde Skye in Linton are streets ahead.

As Wylde Skye isn’t on offer, Shirley the debate is whether you should buy some of what’s on offer

Perhaps I'm spoiled by the Manchester - Leeds beer scene but perhaps if they're limited to two beers I'd had hoped they could have chosen better than a fairly insipid pale (especially if they've got a better pale in their arsenal in Bambino) and a lager which while nice doesn't really sell craft (perhaps my pallette but don't feel craft lagers are as much of an upgrade on big brands Vs other styles). Never been in the Habbin but the increased choice might tempt me on my irregular pilgrimages.

Never been in the Habbin but the increased choice might tempt me on my irregular pilgrimages. Never had a Brewboard beer, however the difficulty I imagine is if they're limited to just two different beers at the ground then the choice will potentially have to be a safe bet so it appeals to the masses and not just craft beer lovers. I love a craft beer but it has admittedly got a reputation and I know from previous jobs that some people are a bit scared of trying the more adventurous drinks craft breweries have. Never usually drink at the Abbey but for the first time I'm tempted so I can try one of these beers. If anyone knows any other places that sell them please let me know.

If I had to guess, I’d suggest that the two they’ve chosen are influenced by the need to offer something that will appeal to ‘the masses’, rather than just the craft aficionados that frequent their taproom. The need to keep the price of a pint down will probably play a role as well, Bambino at the 5% mark would be pricier than their regular pale and I would think neither they nor the club much fancy the potential backlash of last seasons prices going up dramatically because we’ve ‘got that la-di-da hipster stuff in instead of good old Amstel’. Edit - Rozza beat me to it and makes the point far more eloquently.

Perhaps they will mix it up as the season progresses? Would be good for business!

But I don't want a Bambino. I want a Guinness.

But I don't want a Bambino. I want a Guinness. Dreadful in a plastic glass (and dreadful in a lot of pubs) & require pre-pouring otherwise way to slow so wastage & space issues.
