Bonner's getting a few mentions on the 'New Manager is?' thread on the Port Vale forum, with one even claiming he was interviewed today. Febrile rumours or slight/distinct possibility? Hope not. What if Port Vale sent us down on the last game of the season? 😲

Bonner managing Port Vale? Yep I can see it happening. Absolutely.

Don't worry Dylan, the only disappointment for us on the last day of the season will be that we didn't quite make it to the playoffs....

Bonner managing Port Vale? Yep I can see it happening. Absolutely. I can't imagine it tbh but that's probably because Port Vale doesn't actually exist. So to speak.

It's an interesting little job that. On the face of it you'd see just 1 point in the relegation zone and two games in hand and think you've got a good chance to be a hero there. On the flip side the sides directly above you in Reading and Charlton you'd expect to be fine unless off the pitch matters catch up with them, and the little pack above in Burton, Shrewsbury, Wycombe, Exeter and us doesn't seem to have an obvious poor team that's going to fall into trouble, plus you've got a resurgent Fleetwood and a Cheltenham team that has enough time to turn things around and don't look a million miles off doing so.

Let's hope he works his magic on Peterborough.

What if Port Vale sent us down on the last game of the season? 😲 I, for one, am ready for another game of "that's not how the league table works!" after what a roaring success it was last time... But yeah, aside from that, getting a shot at League One gig wouldn't be bad going compared to some of the other vacancies that have come up since.

Vale might be not us and I am confident in that. Be interesting how Bonner would go down in Burslem.

I'm more confident than that sounded! Nevertheless, it's still a funny old game!

What I was figuring was if England under-21 boss Lee Carsley took the Ireland job then you have an ideal next job for Bonner.
Two weeks ago the media said Carsley was staying put so not interested at all but who knows.
I still see Bonner working at international level sometime

If you take the open letter from their Chairwoman the other day at face value, it’s easy to see how Bonner could be a good fit for Vale. Obviously something has gone badly wrong there, but if the owners are as committed and decent as they claim to be, and the DoF despite what the fans think has a clear, achievable vision and long term plan, it sounds like the sort of environment he could thrive in.
Some initial firefighting to do clearly, but with Bonner, a good owner and DoF fully committed and singing from the same hymn sheet, they’d get it right in time.
