If he'd spontaneously come out with that, I'd agree, but it's come from being explicitly asked the question. Smoke and mirrors; he could have flatly denied it and said it didn't suit him or the team, instead he just left the door ajar to leave a sense of doubt out there, maybe to give Evatt something to think about. He seems to be quite impressed with Rossi so far, so maybe its a consideration, either at the start, or maybe to switch things as the game progresses.

It could also be that we change shape without changing formation. If you look at the average positions from Saturday, both Kachunga and Lankester were further forward than Taylor, Lankester much more central than Kaikai despite both being listed as wingers in the starting xi. The formation listed is rarely actually seen on the pitch, at least not throughout the whole game.

The Bolton guy on the UTAS pod said they like to play out from the back and have cocked it up quite a few times when pressed very high up the pitch. Think Taylor has got that in him for a large part of the game but have Kachunga’s hamstrings? Maybe a good run out for Bonne.
Bolton’s central defence is a bit of a patched up unit currently so really hoping we can get at them with plenty of crosses.

Taylor had to play on Saturday the day after he was signed on loan I.e. after one training session. Forrester might be back but captain Santos is out, Jones has been in the Asian Cup so will have just arrived back and Johnston is out for the season. Toal may play but is nursing a dodgy Achilles. Iredale may have to play at the back and at a push, Ashworth. Perhaps you could lend us a fully fit CB? Evatt’s solution to the problem will be to throw on more attackers.

Iredale makes for a remarkably good CB.

Quite a bit of reference to playing 3-5-2 in that interview, so we will see!

I'm going to stick my neck on the line here and say that Harris is the most intelligent* manager we've had since Roy MacFarland. * intelligent in terms of reading the game and tactics, not in terms of academic potential which would go to Mr Bonner.

Uh oh…..Evatt reporting a couple more injuries from this weekend to add to the list. My “guess the team” entry has gone out of the window. George is back though.

Will be interesting to see a "Harris team" to fully judge. He's admitted himself he's evolved what was there, which I'd agree shows more tactical nous than plugging a team into a preferred formation. Somewhere Bonner excelled was using tactics to get the best out of limited players but think Harris needs a larger sample to make a fair comparison but the early signs are promising. Reckon Herve would be in with a shout, just not the right tactics for a lower league English side!

Very much getting a 3-5-2 vibe from Neil.

You've gone early on that one - he hasn't even played Bennett on the wing yet!

He will. Not everyone is up to my level of insight, but he'll get there.

Isn’t it nice to look forward to a game against a top team rather than dreading it (apart from Pish)? My first game live, after having to miss since November, due to family issues. Looking like it will be an interesting game where all results are possible. Can’t wait.
