After last night's events at the Lamex, we're keen to collect feedback around the fans' experiences inside and outside the ground. We will then pass this information to the Club so that they can share the feedback with Stevenage. Please post here or email us at cuspuie2019@gmail.com. Thanks in advance!

The one positive is that a steward inside told me they had been briefed that, although it was allocated seating, not to enforce it because apparently Cambridge "never stick to it"

Where do I start??
I was at the front of the queue and the stewards hadn’t got a clue what was going on. Will be fixed in 2 minutes was the best we got. Surely someone could have been telling us what was actually going on. There was one tweet from Stevenage. Just one, with no updates for an hour.
There wasn’t a supply issue in the area as The Range across the road and street lights next to the ground were fine.
Unless it was from generator the turnstiles had power on their screens and a big red X was lit up. Also the concourse inside had lighting.
From Stevenage fans I know they said this isn’t the first time they have had power problems. If that’s the case then why weren’t they prepared or know what to do?
How did a group of Stevenage fans get to be close to United’s with no police or stewards to stop them. And who the hell sold them glass bottles to throw at our fans (assuming in Stripes bar). One of our fans got hurt by flying glass but it could have been a lot worse.
Poor experience at a poor club.

Luckily I got in however one minor issue compared to others…20 minute queue for the tea bar only to be told it was card only.
As it happened I didn’t have my card on me.
There wasn’t even one sign.
Not the fault of the girls in the teabar just another example of the poor organisation of the club.
And the teabars were at either end of our stand so created two massive queues, all the way along the front, which presumably affected accessibility for those with issues and would have added to chaos if everybody outside had of got in and the lights started working

I was 'fortunate' enough to get into the ground, but my ticket wouldn't scan and it took the steward 3 attempts to get it to work. This happened to others too so problems were clearly there before the lights went out. For them to say that it was a National Grid Outage is a damn lie as lights were clearly on inside the main stand rooms as was the tannoy. The lights were also on at the retail park and the building behind their terrace. I had a message from a Posh supporter whilst there who said that the away end lights failed constantly whist they were there earlier in the season too.
There was a total lack of information from their stadium announcer who tried to make jokes about 50p for the meter and more information was gained from Doug Shulman on Twitter. On this both club's twitter feeds were very poor with no updates. There was no offical announcement and it took the players and staff that came out to clap us to say it was off (thanks Jack Lankester & Kevin Betsy). The lights in the away stand never came back on leaving U's fans to navigate there way out.
On leaving the ground it appeared that all Police leave in Herts had been cancelled and despite 50 odd police vehicles being there, actual officers were thin on the ground which allowed some minor scuffles to break out as all fans left the stadium. Talking to other U's fans in and outside the ground there were reports of bottles being thrown at those stuck outside.
I am not sure if Stevenage manage the free car park, but again no stewards, police and it was a free for all trying to get out of the quagmire.
If the club are asked for feedback by the EFL are they able to raise why their home games against us and Boro were scheduled for evening kick off's meaning large crowds (for the Lamex) at night? If we go back next year are the club allowed to request an afternoon kick off? Will the EFL also investigate reports of power outtages against other clubs as well suggesting an ongoing issue there?
Finally will Stevenage offer any gesture towards those U's fans that travelled last night in way of compensation, even if just a free drink or similar for the re-arranged game?

It does sound like there was a partial power outage so guess the big question is whether the power outage was really a local area issue as Stevenage club announced or instead was a breaker box or some other piece of kit issue that is the responsibility of the stadium and therefore the fault of the club. Has anyone our end asked the National grid for their opinion? The Stevenage FC statement somewhat oddly states that the power cut was caused by reports of a cut rather than an actual power cut! Patronising and inaccurate in its conclusions and reads like a poor attempt at a cover up. Certainly wording doesn't help and just raises suspicions. www.stevenagefc.com/news/2023/december/club-statement-stevenage-fc-football-club-sky-bet-league-one-efl-english-football-league/Can see why flood lights might not work in a partial power outage as would guess they require a lot of flow but things like the turnstiles not working while there was clearly some electricity supply immediately outside the stadium raise eyebrows. I think some clarification is required on the cause. If Stevenage FC are at fault then they should I would have thought be obliged to compensate CUFC and travelling fans. CUSP could press for CFC to request reimbursing the cost of tickets for fans and allowing free entry with those tickets as that would be the least Stevenage should do in those circumstances. If the fault lies with the National grid then fair enough. These things happen.

It was a farce. If turnstiles don’t work then open the main gate and check manually
No updates. Why not tell us immediately it was not going to happen?
Piss poor all round.

After Hillsborough, opening those exit gates is a big no-no for Health and Safety reasons. You cannot control a large crowd outside an open gate, who are all pushing forward indiscriminately to gain entry. No control over numbers, because checking tickets would be a nightmare.

A 'Stevenage employee' in my family opines that it's a consequence of the vast new scoreboard to the left of the away stand that had been plumbed into the system this very week. It takes a large quantity of electricity to advertise its local betting shops, crystal meth suppliers, pawn brokers & gun-running outfits, & therefore blew the stadium circuits. Hopefully permanently.
Ergo, National Grid outage my arse.

Now that it's been proven that it was not a power cut. Will CU be making an official complaint to the EFL about this shambles?
