www.cambridgefansunited.org/wp-admin/post.php?post=3362&action=edit We are aware at CFU that clapping on Saturday is a purely symbolic action which won't, in itself, change anything. What The FSA is suggesting is a symbolic gesture of solidarity with yet another club in crisis. Clapping the NHS during the Pandemic was a gesture which should have been followed by action and obviously wasn't. I am certain that the increasing groundswell of opinion against the EFL's inability to look after the game will be heeded as the terms of the Fans' Led Review begin to take effect .Exeter has agreed to take part and their fans' association have reminded us that during their time of trouble the only two clubs not to support their efforts were us...and Reading. We've heard from a number of Reading fans who appreciate our support, even though we know that clapping in itself will not help their plight anymore than it helped the NHS. What is important I think is that football fans everywhere show that they are sick of seeing clubs being put at risk by inadequate and incompetent owners and by an administration which is out of touch with "ordinary" fans. Government, ruling bodies and TV companies cannot be allowed to destroy our game.

The last three lines of this remind me how lucky we are that Paul Barry is our owner.

Andrew, can you remind us of what help Exeter required during their time of trouble and why, at the time, CFU didn’t provide support. I thought that DMJ was all over providing help and guidance to clubs based on our own experiences, unless their issues predate ours.

I think their CVA was 2004 so we had our own problems at the time.
Edit - DMJ also wasn't CFU chair or fans director at the time.

Not sure of the year but it was when they were going into administration and asked clubs they owed money to to help them. Their supporters were trying to take control of the club placed in danger by another rogue owner. I should have made it clear that it was the clubs that didn't respond rather than supporters' trusts. You are quite right. DMJ and CFU worked very hard to help and guide. Apologies for not being clear
