Harris, in his reaction piece to camera, described our travelling female fans as wives and girlfriends, which isn't the most even-handed view of the fanbase. I hope he doesn't do that again. Did you spot that at the time @danielcufc ? Everything outside media work is looking strong from Neil Harris. Overall, I'm very happy he is here. Why are you intentionally over reaching for something that isn’t there? Weird post. Did...did you just call me a mime artist?!

He was talking about the wives and girlfriends of the players. "It's not just the fans it's the parents [of the players] as well, and the wives and girlfriends [of the players]. If only the bits in square brackets had been said, it would have been so much better. [of the fans] fits just as well and is the last thing he was talking about. PR isn't about what you mean to say, but what you say. So the parents, wives and girlfriends of the players aren't fans? The whole idea is full of divisive pitfalls, no matter how you traverse it. This isn’t the first time you’ve intentionally taken something out of context to try and stir up baseless speculation is it? Our Neil as well. Again, weird.

So "still weird" would be more appropriate. That view is not my responsibility. Intention is up to me to decide. I stated it as to avoid a repeat. That is pretty much it. I'm not trying to stir anything up. Context is usually set by the last thing you were talking about, unless you start a new subject/paragraph. Context being not what the speaker (or you) intended, but what they were talking about. I'm no fan of baseless speculation outside the transfer rumours thread. I don't expect to change your view that I say and post weird things. Just don't call me a mime artist.

I'd have always assumed the parents, wives, girlfriends and boyfriends of the players probably aren't fans [of the club] to be honest. They're there primarily to support their son, husband, boyfriend or boyfriend and that affinity will move on when the player does. It doesn't mean they can't also be fans of the club but I think when it's as obviously transient and motivated by one thing then that separation between 'family' and 'travelling fans' feels like a natural distinction to make for me.
I can't imagine Harris meant anything by it other than to highlight how much support there was for the players.

This forum would never over analyse press conferences to make wild assumptions.

Andrew Not for the most part, but there will be some notable exceptions - parents of local players may well have that connection - Dan Gleeson being a great example, as was Josh Coulson's dad. Not forgetting of course Jack Iredale's dad, he really bought into the club while Jack was here. There have been others of course.

I've known Josh's Dad since way before he broke through at United, and despite his Spurs leanings he does have a CUFC heart! Other than that, another parent who really bought in was Carlo Mingoia, Piero's Dad, who I got to know well having originally sat next to him at a PSF at St Neots one year. After Piero's worldy goal in the league cup against Wednesday, Carlo was so over the moon he rang me and demanded we go drinking to celebrate. Top bloke!

When did Josh's dad break through at United?! He was on the pitch for Rendell's Stevenage winner in the PO's. Josh mentions it in his recent podcast interview. he was worried his dad might get chucked out !!

Met him after Dover (a) on a Thursday night, nice bloke. Seemed really invested David Gregory's dad went everywhere and got involved despite his son never playing. Brad Halliday's dad could be spotted at most games as well
