Really could do with another win against these who are struggling again with 3 straight losses and 4 defeats in their last 5. They’ve a new striker signed from FGR but have lost a couple of key players via transfer and injury. The Shrewsbury win gives us some breathing room but another win will take the pressure off the games in hand.
Maybe Harris keeps a very similar team that started last night but I’d like to see either Thomas or Lankester in midfield at the expense of Digby or Cousins as we’ll need some creativity to break down the defence.

I think Lankester will come back in, we need that creativity to pull apart a team that will be setting up to 'not lose'. Thomas made sense last night to shore up our midfield against 'total football' Bolton. And for the 8 minutes we played that seemed to look like it was working very well.
Except for that switch I'd keep the same line up.

Think Lankester will come back in most likely, and probably no other changes (although I expect Gibbons to make his debut either from the start or off the bench). The Thomas selection was to give us a high-pressing frontline against a team that plays out from the back. Could possibly see him coming in for Cousins or Digby I suppose, but I think it's much more likely we stick with the 4-2-2-2.
Really could do with a win in this. Not a disaster to draw but we ought to be looking at staying up comfortably this season, and 3 points in these sorts of games are the way you do it.

Reading between the lines Cheltenham have been pretty competitive in their recent games despite the results, not had the rub of the green in decisions either. Could be a trickier game than it looks.

Another one of those West Country teams we always seem to struggle against. Not straightforward by any means. Expect another Fleetwood game- a dull struggle where one goal could win it for either side.

All I hope is that the three days of forecast rain somehow passes us by... Given the absolute drenching the pitch took last night I can't imagine it will take a lot to put Saturday in some doubt. I have every faith in Ian and team! As to the football, we'll win, 3-0. Lyle, Jack and Macca with the goals.

Good as Ian is, he is not a miracle worker. Having seen the forecast for the next 3 days, I predict there will be a lot of postponements this week-end. If Ian does manage to get the game on, he should be given a medal.
I am afraid I am not very optimistic about it,

On the contrary, I think it's pretty likely it'll be on. Pitch can be covered for the forecast periods of heavy rain & it's supposed to be dry more or less from Friday afternoon onwards.
Famous last words of course but I think it should be fine.

Does Ian really use covers to deal with rain?
I would have imagined they could make some areas worse rather than reducing the problem - as there would be leakage at various spots.
That said, I'm confident he'll have a plan and it'll be on.
My forecast has 24 hours with little or no rain from Friday afternoon (which should enough for the drains to catch up), then light rain on Saturday afternoon.

While it is rubbish outside its hardly monsoon weather. Just normal winter months!

This does appear to be happening , we are not used to this much rain in the winterRecent winters have been warmer but wetter h ttps://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/climate-change/effects-of-climate-change

I think that as the rain/weather is forecast as EG says he will have a plan. Tuesday's deluge came out the blue a bit so he was unlucky. Saturday is forecast to be dry as well. I think it will go ahead!

Watching football being played on a waterlogged rice field of a pitch is funny on a few minutes long YouTube clip but not for 96 minutes.

I imagine that Ian and his team will have used yesterday to remove any excess water from the pitch before covering it. A lot of rain has fallen today already with much more to come overnight.
Nothing is impossible but I would be amazed if the game isn't on come Saturday.
