I wasn’t searched either. Mind you, they got that one right as I wasn’t smuggling in any smoke bombs. It all seemed very random outside and also good natured - the steward who waved me through was decent and polite. Stevenage however cannot state that everyone was searched as a quick scan at Twitter and on here suggests that simply wasn’t the case.

That is a quite frankly disgraceful statement from their club, no accountability from them even with clear evidence.
Odious club, odious fans and I really hope they choke and flunk next year too.

Similar to me. My teenage son was searched and I was just allowed straight in.

That's a 'we won't let them get away with that' statement.

That's a 'we won't let them get away with that' statement. It seemed a lot more than finger wagging. It sounds like some evidence to act on. How good/effective that evidence proves to be remains to be seen.

This thread reads like we've found a tin pot level where we are considering Stevenage our rivals and we're outraged by some kids acting up.

I think that most people are outraged by the lack of accountability and the pathetic response from Stevenage, rather than the events themselves.

The fault lies mainly with the Stevenage fans and their stewards. If the Stevenage lot hadn’t started throwing things our lot wouldn’t need to retaliate. The smoke bomb on the pitch while we were attacking was stupid though. Otherwise I think our fans showed immense restraint in the face of severe provocation by Stevenage stewards and fans. Retaliation is not a "need". Only the flare that hit the pitch gets your disapproval? What about the one thrown at people crowded together in the home stand? Many fans showed all the restraint needed, but some did not. That is on them. Even standing in the walkway during the match is obstructive. Although I'd have been glad of a blindfold by that point, I wanted to see the match. I didn't come equipped for anything else. I'm condemning Stevenage ( "stewards" and "fans" ) too. Stewards were either too light or too heavy-handed. No visible co-ordination. Coins, full bottles and vapes/lighters were clearly thrown. The stewards didn't have enough support prepared in order to safely make the first move.
