If anyone's after a bit of nostalgia, especially of one particular game against tonight's opponents Stevenage, check out our latest episode of UTAS Meets with former U's boss Gary Brabin. We chatted about the highs and lows of the 08/09 season, as well as Gary's misdiagnosed heart condition which ended his playing career. Who do we think he wanted to take off in the play-off final after 15 minutes?
Edit: I thought Courtney Pitt when he mentioned it in the interview.

Yeah he sprang to mind straight away when I heard that, we were collectively awful that day but Courtney was one of the worst offenders. Enjoyed the interview overall, fun nostalgia trip although I couldn’t help but wonder if he was being diplomatic when he said he couldn’t remember certain details that I could recall as if it were yesterday. I also enjoyed Jordan asking him about how significant the home loss to FGR was, as that being more significant than not beasting Alty on the last day is a hill I will be happy to die on until the end of time.

I spent most games wishing Courtney Pitt could be taken off after 15 minutes so it was almost certainly him.

Great pod, although I wish Jordan asked him why he brought on Parkinson over Holroyd at Wembley when we were chasing the game. I’ll never ever understand that decision.

As always I really enjoyed the pod. We’re very luck to have UTAS (thank you guys).
I was hoping he’d mention why Scott Rendell was dropped for the first leg v Stevenage. Maybe to get the response we got in the home tie.
Great interview - looking forward to the next one from our history.

That is a question, who would be on everyone's list of people to interview and why?
For me, my top 5 would be:
- Courtney Pitt - Here during our darkest days and some of our best days would have some good stories. Plus the Barcelona move - Robbie Simpson - 2 spells, very different times and a good career to boot - Scott Rendell - The move to Posh and then the return - Paul Carden - Mainly for the assistant manager to Ling. (hopefully as a feisty scouser he's outspoken and happy to tear into Ling), then playing against us on loan as assistant - Norman Gauntry - George Rolls, Martin Ling's early days, 3 managers in the carpark. I think there would be enough there

Courtney Pitt would be on the top of your list of people to interview?? The 2006-2010 period was a pretty interesting time, full of good stories. So absolutely

I doubt he’d do it, but I’d absolutely love to hear a long form conversation with John Beck. I’m not old enough to have witnessed his first spell, but was traumatised by his second. As such, I’d find it fascinating to hear about how he developed his ideas on tactics, the wacky stuff like deflated balls for opponents warm ups and whatnot, plus of course why he was so wedded to his ideas that he wouldn’t contemplate changing them, even when they started producing diminishing returns.

Thanks for your feedback everyone, we've got plenty of interviews in the pipeline but suggestions always welcome - you can find us at hello@undertheabbeystand.com as well with any more feedback. While we're here, we don't push this too much but if you have a spare few quid knocking around to help fund our end of season curry (and help keep the pod and website running, obviously), we've opened up a Donate page: www.undertheabbeystand.com/p/donate

Talking about the Weymouth situation:
"I don't have any regrets"
10 seconds later...
"I think about it sometimes and its sad"
That's a regret Gary. You're describing a regret.
