Will definitely be a change for the Bristol Rovers game cos Gibbons will be ineligible. I don’t see us playing Morro/Rennett as a pairing again. I would also be a bit reluctant to use both in a 3 at the back.
We also need to be mindful that our system won’t surprise teams now. They’ll be expecting it and trying to exploit the weaknesses. Wigan tried and largely failed luckily, but it’s something Monk will be keeping in mind.

Yeah not sure I'd want Morrison & Bennett together even in a 3, although I wouldn't be too surprised if we played that against Bristol, with Andrew reverting to wing-back.
Personally I'd leave it as it is in the middle, move Brophy to LWB and bring Lankester in behind Ahadme.

I quite like Brophy in his current role he's playing well so would be loathed to dirsupt it. Rossi is a bit of a ball player isn't he? I'd imagine he would come in and Andrew go wide. Think Andrew would be a decent wing back actually. He's got a bit of pace hasn't he so would suit him.
What I really liked yesterday was our set pieces. We are starting to cause havoc with our height. Jobe, Gass, Digby, Rennett, Cousins all are units. Throw Rossi into that mix annd we've got some big ol boys for those free kicks, corners and the new secret weapon...The Jobe long throw.

I'd be quite surprised if we went with Ibsen Rossi over Morrison when he's fit.
Andrew's played wing-back a fair bit in his career (and CB).

Do we know if Morrison is due back in time for the Rovers game? Rossi seems to come on late on to shore things up so presume he is on the radar.

Think we have to go with the tried and trusted. We know what Morrison is all about, Brophy can show his worth by filling in at LWB for that one game. Rossi hasn’t started a league game for months/years, too risky to be starting him in a game that we might need to win. (Best case scenario is we’re safe by then and Rossi can start in CM alongside Lennett)

I guess we will find out at the Monkference on Thursday, that will no doubt be on his 'injury list' . Morro's injury has been kept quite low-key, helped by the impressive form of Jobe. It was reported as just a minor knee niggle before the Barnsley match, so hopefully a fortnight's rest will see him right. If not, it could be something a bit more sinister - which would be par for the course this season!

Saw him on the touchline shortly before kick off and he was walking around fine (no crutches or hobbling) and very jovial so fingers crossed he'll be ready soon.

All three deservedly in there too, with no bias having not watched any other game this weekend.

Wow I just assumed that was L1 team of the week until I clocked the Ipswich and QPR badges.

Wow I just assumed that was L1 team of the week until I clocked the Ipswich and QPR badges. By that logic, we should have more in the League 1 team of the week, including Monk as the Manager - but I bet by some strange algorithm it will probably be the opposite!

I may have missed it (sorry if I did) but I did expect a Samuel Beckett reference somewhere. Have we let our standards drop? . I am delighted to inform you that I slipped it into mine (ooer missus, insert Kenneth Williams gif). Samuel Beckett & Kenneth Williams in the same post, that has to be worth 3 points.

I know a lot's been said about this game, and I've not had a chance to read the whole thread yet, but wanted to have my say.
What a wonderful day it was yesterday. The drive both ways from Essex with the roof down on my MX-5, the day after the clocks go forward so it's still light afterwards, and sunny weather throughout. The clouds over the Main Stand before kick off were stunning. And then the game. You may know this already (!), but I love Lennett for the sheer effort he puts in, but so many others put in a proper shift too yesterday, in a way I've not seen for ages. There were players chasing down Wigan balls from their defence in the 89thish minute! Just so good to see. Those basics I have been lamenting not seeing time and again were there for the most part. And a cracking penalty save, two lovely assists from wide, Jobe being a revelation again, the formation and the opportunities it offered, and the fun with Godo (and him taking it so well, to his credit). There was a lot to love out there. For the first time this season I went to a football match on a sunny day and was entertained! Entertained! By us! This season with these players! I don't need reminding why I love watching football at The Abbey, but if I ever do I'll remember yesterday as one of the reasons.
There have been better Cambridge United performances and games, and there were a few things we need to sort out, and we are still in a relegation...skirmish...but bloody hell I loved it yesterday. Thank you Monk, thank you the players, thank you the fans and the stewards and the grounds staff and everyone else involved. Thank you all.
We are blessed with a cracking football club community and we need to remember that and cherish it. I think we mostly do but sometimes our patience is tested! Still, onwards...and UIE.
